UPDATE: Epson Releases Their Most Advanced 4K Laser Projector to Date. The Epson LS12000

Introducing the newest Epson Pro Cinema Projectors the Epson LS12000. We heard it was going to be released and we were right! (As we usually are.)

The Epson engineering team tasked with building the next generation home theater projector for 2022, the Epson LS12000 4K Pro Cinema had one goal on their mind. To reproduce the source material the way the creator intended it to be seen.

The Epson LS12000 is the heir apparent to the beloved Epson 6050 as the king of home cinema projection.

With the Epson Pro Cinema LS12000 4K Pro-UHD 3-Chip 3LCD Laser Projector they delivered 100%. Driven by a proprietary 36-bit Epson ZX Picture Processor for powerful picture processing, the Pro Cinema LS12000 (model number V11HA47020MB) is able to deliver incredible brightness, color accuracy, and image detail to faithfully display movies and TV shows the way they were meant to be seen.

What We Got Right:

Bright Laser Light Source

Continuing the trend of brighter laser based home theater projectors, like the JVC NZ7, the newest Epson projector provides an astonishing 2,700 lumens of color and white brightness for a jaw droopingly vibrant image. This new Epson projector is bright enough that when you pair it with an ambient light rejecting projector screen, you're able to create an image that's bright enough for even a well lit room.

True multi-array laser diodes produce an ideal light source to power the unique 3-Chip 3LCD chipset for quick turn-on, incredible picture brightness, black contrast and color accuracy.

Incredibly Sharp 4K Resolution Picture

The Epson LS12000 features advanced pixel-shifting technology that works in parallel with three individual high-definition LCD chips to produce an exceptionally sharp 4K picture without sacrificing picture brightness. It projects a full 8.3 million pixel arrangement.

LCD projectors are sometimes known to have softer images (which some people actually prefer) but the advanced pixel shifting technology gives this home theater projector extra sharpness for a crystal clear image.

The brand new LS12000 also features the Epson VRX Cinema Lens. This high grade lens utilizes a proprietary 15-element precision glass structure for outstanding image clarity and edge-to-edge focus uniformity with zero light leakage. This could be one of the best projector lens technologies Epson has ever developed.

Bright Vibrant Colors

With a true 3-chip 3LCD projector engine, the Epson Pro Cinema LS12000 is able to continuously display 100% of the RGB color signal in every frame. This allows it to produce 1.07 billion colors and giving you incredibly bright vibrant colors. These numbers would cover at least 85% of the DCI-P3 color space. A very impressive achievement in color.

Super High Contrast

Epson's home cinema projector features their proprietary UltraBlack technology, a  compensation filter that controls the polarization of the light from the laser. This allows Epson to suppress any stray light within the signal and dramatically enhance the picture contrast to produce an infinite Dynamic Contrast Ratio exceeding 2,500,000:1.

As we mentioned in our review of the new LG HU715Q UST, these manufacture reported contrast ratios should be taken with a grain of salt.

However, when reputable manufactures like Epson claim a contrast ratio that's this high, they typically are more than just talk. We fully anticipate the LS12000's ability to deliver the fantastic contrast ratios we've seen in Epson's other home cinema projectors such as the Epson 6050UB.

Impressive HDR Performance

The Epson LS12000 features full 10-bit HDR color processing, with real-time HDR curve adjustment that allows for 16 steps of control to fine-tune the HDR performance regardless of the content. This HDR processing allows the device to accepts 100 percent of the HDR source information to faithfully reproduce HDR, HDR10+ and HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma) content for an exceptional visual performance.

Top Level Gaming Projector Specs

While it's part of the Pro Cinema line, don't let it fool you, the Epson LS12000 is also an absolute beast projector for gaming. This laser based video game allows for 4K gaming at 120 frames per second and a sub-20ms input lag giving hardcore gamers competitive edge and allows all gamers to take full advantage of the latest generation of consoles, like the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and even high end gaming PCs.

These specs put the LS12000 up there with the best 4K gaming projectors like our #1 rated, the Optoma UHZ50.

Advanced HDMI Connectivity

Part of what allows for the high level gaming performance is the addition of the HDMI 2.1 port. This advanced input supports full 48 Gbps bandwidth for accepting 4K HDR content up to 120 Hz. It also features ARC and eARC support that allows for outstanding compatibility with the best home theater receivers and next-gen gaming consoles.

Sadly the Epson LS12000 only comes with 2 HDMI ports. We always prefer projectors to have at least 3.

What Surprised Us:

ISF® Certified

Each projector is professionally calibrated by an ISF Certified Technician to provide you with the absolute highest level of image quality possible.

What We Got Wrong:

Low Price Home Theater Projector

The LS12000 is being sold at a surprisingly low price of $4,999. We thought it would be priced $1,000 higher.

At ProjectorScreen.com we're always happy to sell fantastic projectors at a lower price.

A Replacement For The Epson 5060

We expected the release of the LS12000 to coincide with the release of the somewhat less powerful LS11000W but it looks like we'll have to wait another day for the heir to the Epson 5060.

We have our fingers crossed that the Epson LS11000 gets released soon!

Are these the new Epson 5060 and Epson 6060?

Epson has joined the flurry of manufacturers releasing new laser projectors with the announcement of the Epson EH-LS12000B and the Epson EH-LS11000W. These higher-end home cinema projectors are perfect not just for film enthusiasts but gamers too. The new Epson projectors will provide you with a fully immersive big screen experience in your home. They come with a range of unique and useful features making them the ideal digital display for film nights, streaming, sporting events and gaming.

We at ProjectorScreen.com believe the EH-LS12000B and the EH-LS11000W will be sold in the USA as the new Epson 5060 and Epson 6060. Their predecessors the Epson 6050 and Epson 5050 are two of the best selling home cinema projectors. We expect the highly anticipated Epson 5060 and Epson 6060 to outsell even these must have projectors.

Both of these new home theater projectors feature Epson’s advanced laser light source and a new 4K image processing chip delivering 4K resolution. The EH-LS12000B and EH-LS11000W give home cinema enthusiasts high brightness, high image quality and flexibility.

Outstanding 4K Picture Quality

These epson projectors bring to the table high-end technologies to deliver outstanding picture quality with a very impressive 2,500,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio to give you deep black levels, 4K resolution (8.3mil pixels) for detailed picture, HDR10+ support reveals extra detail and depth for natural yet richer colors, and an extra bright laser light-source.

These Epson laser projectors cover an impressive 85% of the DCI-P3 color space.

All this while avoiding the dreaded rainbow effect thanks to the 3LCD chipset instead of the DLP chipset.

With 4K Frame interpolation, 4K Super Resolution and scene adaptive gamma correction/auto contrast enhancement, the ultimate home-cinema experience is simple to achieve. Powered lens shift and a zoom lens will make it easy to achieve an accurate display on your projector screen.

High Lumen Home Theater Projection

Cinema enthusiasts will rejoice at the vivid colors these laser projectors produce thanks to an equally high White and Color Light Output of 2,700 lumens on the EH-LS12000B and 2,500 lumens with the EH-LS11000W.

These higher lumen levels allow these projectors to produce sharp, colorful images even in moderately well lit rooms. Particularly when you pair it with an ambient light rejecting cinema screen.

The long lasting laser light source on the Epson EH-LS12000B and Epson EH-LS11000W give users up to 10 years of movie watching enjoyment.

New 4K Laser Projectors for Gaming

The Epson EH-LS12000B and EH-LS11000W aren’t just for movie lovers. These new epson laser units are true gaming projectors.

Just like the Epson LS500, these devices were built with gamers in mind. Both gaming projectors will offer up to a 4K resolution image at an astounding 120 frames per second, while most other “projectors for gamers” can only do 4K at 60fps.

Even hardcore gamers can take full advantage of the new consoles like the Playstation 5 and Xbox SeriesX and even higher-end gaming PC’s thanks to the sub 20ms input lag time.

New Key Features:

  • 4K resolution (8.3mil pixels)
  • Over 2,5000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio
  • Color space DCI>85%
  • 4K Super resolution
  • 4K Frame interpolation
  • Scene adaptive gamma correction
  • Instant off

When Will These New Projectors Go On Sale?

The EH-LS11000W (white chassis) and EH-LS12000B (black chassis) will be on sale some time in either October or November 2021. We expect in the USA that they’ll be released as the Epson 5060 and Epson 6060 home cinema projectors.

It’s anticipated that the Epson 5060 will sell for around $5,500 while the Epson 6060 will retail for around $5,900.
