Added Gain. Added Contrast.

Paint On Screen S1 Screen Silver is a version of the popular Paint On Screen silver screen formulation, also offered by the manufacturer as S1 Screen Plus.

Its light grey silverish surface helps deepen blacks and boost perceived contrast, making it a strong step up from a standard white screen in rooms with some ambient light.

With a 1.5 gain and wide 150-degree viewing cone, S1 Screen Silver returns more of your projector's light to the audience while maintaining excellent visibility throughout the seating area.

Key Features

✓ 1.5 gain for added brightness
✓ 150° wide viewing cone
✓ HD 1080p & 4K capable
✓ Active Shutter 3D capable
✓ Light grey silverish surface
✓ Roll or spray application
✓ Approximately 170 sq. ft. coverage
✓ Custom screen sizes & aspect ratios
✓ Wipe-clean permanent surface
✓ Recoatable if damaged or marked

No Fixed Screen Size. No Fixed Aspect Ratio.

One of the biggest advantages of a painted projection screen is freedom from predetermined screen dimensions.

Create the projection surface that fits your room instead of designing your room around the screen.

Create 4:3, 16:9, 1.78:1, 1.85:1, 2.35:1 CinemaScope or other custom formats. Paint only the desired image area and add a border, or coat a larger section of wall for a clean borderless installation.

Made for High-Resolution Projection

S1 Screen Silver is formulated specifically as a projection surface rather than conventional wall paint.

Its 1.5 gain helps return projected light toward the viewing area while its wide viewing cone provides flexibility for different seating arrangements.

The coating is designed to maintain pixel definition, uniformity and color accuracy while minimizing unwanted color shift.

One Screen Paint. Countless Applications.

Residential

Dedicated home theaters, living rooms, media rooms, gaming rooms, sports viewing areas, golf simulators and multi-purpose entertainment spaces.

Commercial

Schools, conference rooms, houses of worship, hotels, restaurants, sports bars, convention centers, stages, training facilities, simulation environments and digital signage.

Why Choose a Painted Projection Screen?

A permanently painted projection surface remains rigid and flat.

Unlike a retractable screen, there is no flexible material that can develop waves, wrinkles or changes in tension over time.

If the screen becomes permanently marked, scratched or damaged, the projection area can simply be recoated rather than replacing an entire screen assembly.

✓ No screen housing or roller mechanism
✓ No electrical connections required for the screen
✓ Custom screen dimensions
✓ Flexible aspect ratios
✓ Large-format projection capability
✓ Easy surface maintenance
✓ Damaged areas can be recoated
✓ Clean, integrated appearance when the projector is off

Simple Roll or Spray Application

S1 Screen Silver can be rolled or sprayed onto a clean, properly prepared surface.

For the sharpest projected image, the underlying surface should be as smooth and defect-free as possible.

Recommended Application

1.
Determine projector position and desired image size.
2.
Project the image and outline the maximum screen area.
3.
Repair, smooth and prepare the projection surface.
4.
Mask the screen borders with painter's tape if desired.
5.
Thoroughly mix the coating before application.
6.
Apply two light, even coats.
7.
Allow approximately one hour between coats.
8.
Allow approximately 24 hours for the coating to fully cure.

Depending on the condition and porosity of the underlying surface, additional coats may be required.

Fresh drywall, stucco, masonry and other porous surfaces may require additional surface preparation or coating.

For best results, apply when the ambient temperature is above 50°F (10°C), relative humidity is 85% or less and the moisture content of the screen surface is below 15%.

Roll Application

Use vertical roller strokes on flat surfaces and maintain a consistent wet edge.

Fully load the roller before application. Overlap each new pass by approximately 50%, and back-roll or feather each pass into the previous section.

For curved surfaces, horizontal roller strokes may be preferable. Domes and other complex surfaces are generally better suited to spray application.

Recommended: Two even coats with approximately one hour between coats.

Spray Application

S1 Screen Silver can also be applied using a standard airless latex sprayer.

Spray Tip: 415, 417, 515 or 517

Pressure: Approximately 2,000–3,000 PSI

Finished Dry Thickness: Approximately 3–4 mils

When spraying the screen coating, applying the primer using a similar spray method can help create a consistent underlying surface.

170 SQ. FT.
Approximate coverage per gallon
Approximately enough coating for a projection surface up to 240" diagonal depending on aspect ratio, surface condition and application method.

Surface Preparation

Paint On Screen can be applied to many smooth surfaces, but the quality of the underlying surface directly affects the quality of the projected image.

✓ Start with the smoothest surface possible.
✓ Repair dents, holes, seams and other imperfections.
✓ Lightly sand previously painted surfaces when necessary.
✓ Apply an appropriate primer when required.
✓ Remove dust and debris before applying the screen coating.

The smoother and more uniform the finished surface, the sharper the projected image can appear.

Easy Maintenance

S1 Screen Silver creates a permanent projection surface that can be wiped clean when necessary.

If the screen becomes permanently marked, scratched or scuffed, the affected area can be recoated to restore the projection surface. This makes a painted screen particularly useful in high-traffic residential, educational and commercial environments.

A Smoother Surface. A Sharper Image.

Paint On Screen Leveling Primer is recommended for all Paint On Screen installations applied over drywall, wood, masonry or any surface that is not perfectly smooth.

This primer helps remove surface texture and improve final image quality — because the smoother the surface under your screen coating, the sharper the projected image can appear.

Depending on your wall surface, you may need to sand before and after applying Leveling Primer to further smooth textured walls.

Key Features

✓ Helps remove surface texture
✓ Improves final image quality
✓ Sandable
✓ Light grey color
✓ Roll or spray application
✓ For drywall, wood and masonry
✓ Use under any Paint On Screen coating
✓ Soap and water clean up

Why Surface Texture Matters

A projector reveals every bump, seam and roller texture on the wall — and those imperfections can show up in the projected image.

Leveling Primer helps fill and smooth minor surface texture so your projection coating goes on over a flatter, more uniform base.

For textured walls, sand, prime, and sand again as needed until the surface is as smooth as possible.

Where to Use Leveling Primer

Recommended Surfaces

Drywall, wood, masonry and any surface that is not perfectly smooth — including fresh drywall and previously painted walls with roller texture.

Use With

Radiant White, Digital Theater White, S1 Screen, S1 Ultimate Contrast, 3D4K, Edge, Black, Color Match and other Paint On Screen projection coatings.

Simple Roll or Spray Application

Leveling Primer can be rolled or sprayed onto a clean, properly prepared surface.

If you plan to spray your Paint On Screen coating, spray the primer in the same manner to create a consistent underlying surface.

Recommended Application

1.
Clean the surface and remove dust, grease and debris.
2.
Repair dents, holes, seams and other imperfections.
3.
Mask the screen borders with painter's tape if desired.
4.
Mix the primer thoroughly before application.
5.
Apply Leveling Primer in even coats.
6.
Sand as needed for a smoother finish.
7.
Allow the primer to dry completely.
8.
Apply your Paint On Screen projection coating.

Tip: Replace the roller cover for each coat to avoid streaking or roller marks.

Spray Application

Leveling Primer can also be applied using a standard airless latex sprayer.

Spray Tip: 415, 417, 515 or 517

Pressure: Approximately 2,000–3,000 PSI

Finished Dry Thickness: Approximately 3–4 mils
