Picture exceeds my expectation

We have had the Formovie for three weeks. The projector is being used with a 110 inch Vividstorm floor rising screen. It is on the floor since we are waiting for our Vividstorm cabinet to be delivered. The screen is directly in front of a large picture window. There are two side windows in the room. The picture greatly exceeds my expectation. The attached picture of Avatar 2 has all the windows open. It is brighter in the daylight than I had thought it would be. The 4K picture is absolutely amazing. The built in audio system works very well. At times there is definitely a surround sound feeling to it. For movies we use a 20 year old M&K sound system and lower the shades (recently installed from The Shade Store). It feels as if are in a movie theater. Switching between the Yamaha receiver and the internal speakers only takes turning the receiver off. I have not figured out how to start the Formovie without the receiver (connected through eArc) turning on. I use Alexa to turn the receiver off. A few issues. A very simple remote with no backlighting. The remote is Bluetooth only which means we cannot use our Comcast RF remote to turn the Formovie on/off. The volume works through the Comcast remote probably through the HDMI connection. I have installed an Android remote app on my phone in case we misplace the remote. There no Alexa capability built in- only Google. This is really not acceptable. We have to completely power down the Formovie for the Vividstorm power dongle to work correctly. If we put the Formovie in standby the screen will rise and lower sporadically. However by powering down, there does not seem to be a way to automatically start it up on HDMI1 (have to hit the Live TV app that is on the home screen). These complaints are minor since the picture is so good.

Immersive experience with forMovie

Name says Formovie and its totally justified, yes it excellent to watch movies and the immersive experience it provides feels like theatre experience. I paired it with 120 inch Spectra Vantage screen and it’s totally worth the price to watch movie on a decent size screen at home anytime. Its double the size of a 85 inch TV and lot less harmful to eyes as we are not looking directly at the source of light but looking at the reflected light. 4K clarity is a real 4k and not upscaled as lot of other competitors out there and sound system is dolby. Simply stunning at home experience.

After thorough research, I purchased the Formovie projector, and I must say, the quality is truly remarkable. Not only does it deliver excellent sound directly from the projector itself, but when paired with my Q990C soundbar, the audio experience surpasses even that of my TV. The sound output is superb, and in terms of video quality, it exceeds expectations. Although I haven't set up my screen yet, the projection on a white wall alone is impressive, particularly in low-light conditions where it truly shines. Surprisingly, I find that I don't require an ALR screen for use in a dark room. The Android app functionality is outstanding, with seamless performance across most major streaming services, barring Netflix. Additionally, I've noticed that my Xbox FIFA game runs smoothly without any lag when connected to this projector. The Formovie Theater Projector offers a decent performance for its price point, but it falls short in some areas.

Setting up the projector was relatively easy, although the instructions could have been clearer. Once set up, the picture quality was satisfactory, but not exceptional. While colors were decently vibrant, the contrast ratio left something to be desired, resulting in less-than-impressive blacks and whites.

Brightness was sufficient for darker environments, but struggled to compete with ambient light in well-lit rooms. This limited the projector's usability to certain lighting conditions, which was disappointing.

The built-in speakers provided sound that was adequate for casual viewing, but lacked depth and clarity for a truly immersive experience. External speakers are recommended for a better audio performance.

Overall, the Formovie Theater Projector is a decent option for those on a budget, but it may not meet the expectations of more discerning users. With clearer setup instructions, improved picture quality, and better brightness capabilities, it has the potential to be a stronger contender in the market.

After much deliberation and extensive market research about buying an UST projector, we have finally decided to purchase Formovie Theater and paired it with the Spectra Projection Vantage 120" UST ALR CLR Projector Screen also bought from projectorscreen.com. The picture quality has been remarkable and the colors are truly outstanding. Contrast ratio is really the best out there and it shows. If you have a fairly dark viewing space and brightness is not a concern, this should be the #1 choice. The timing was also great since we re-did our media room to give us a true theater experience. Android TV that comes with the projector isn't that great of an interface. Highly recommend having Apple TV instead.
While we encountered an Overheating sensor error on the original unit that arrived, it was a fairly quick phone call with the Customer service to have that returned and a replacement unit get shipped to us. While it has only been few days since the replacement unit got delivered, it has been such a gamechanger for us in movie-watching experience.

The good - The picture is awesome. Dolby support is great! It's weird to no longer be able to cross in front of the projection - in a good way.
The bad - Android. I want it to go away. I want a projector, not a google home. Just one more thing to fail. If you ever have a cold start, it goes into android. There's no setting to say 'always go to the last port'. Bluetooth remote. Clever, but means 90% of the universal remotes won't work with it. That's just stupid. The CEC seems to erratic for me as well so I have to keep the remote handy to wake it up.
The ugly - Warranty work can lead to a trip to China. Not kidding. I was without my 3 month old projector for 7 weeks. That leads us to...
The awesome - Zac Ringer at projectorscreen.com. His tech support has been outstanding and he got me a replacement projector (Otherwise I think I'd still be waiting). He was on top of it the whole time and kept a great line of communication. If I had it to do over, I'm not sure I'd buy a Formovie again but I would have bought the something else from here.

I recently purchased a Formovie Theater UST and a Spectra Projection Vantage 120” UST ALR CLR Projector Screen from projectorscreen.com. I have been consistently surprised and pleased with the quality of both. I have mine set up in a light controlled room and the picture from this projector with the Spectra vantage screen is fantastic. The picture is very bright and clear. The details are much better than I had expected. This projector paired with a good ALR/CLR screen produces a great result. My family is very happy and has been watching a lot of movies since. I spent a lot of time reading the reviews and watching videos to learn about the projectors and various screens. When I was ready to buy, I decided to buy from projectorscreen.com because they have fantastic reviews for quality and service and I really appreciated all of their media (videos, lengthly and informative reviews of the various products, etc.). So I took a leap and bought from them. I have no complaints at all about the screen, the projector or projectorscreen.com. I honestly recommend them and completely endorse the both the Formovie Theater UST and the Spectra Projection Vantage 120” UST ALR CLR Projector Screen.

I had high expectations, and this projector/screen combination surpassed them.

We built a dedicated room in our new house for our grandkids. The room is 18’x23’x12’. In the rear of the room, we installed a loft of 5 twin beds for sleepovers. At the front of room, the addition of the Formovie Theater has made this the first room they head to when they come over. We were leaning toward a 100” screen prior to our contact with the knowledgeable people at Projectorscreen.com. After discussion with them, we chose a 120”. The size fits perfect on our 18’ wide, 12’ tall front wall. We built a stand for the projector that has 8” legs. The ultra short throw of the Theater works really well, putting the screen at a perfect height for our low seating choice without protruding out into the room. The picture quality gets many compliments. Many people mistake it for a flat screen LED. We think the Spectra screen that was recommended by your associate has a great deal to do with it. It just looks fantastic, the sharpness, colors, black levels, brightness…..Everything! Looking forward to many years of enjoyment to come for our family.

Great projector, really sharp bright picture. Really easy setup for creating a custom screen size that works. Keystoning guidelines gets you the right picture shape and size. The sounds is as good any soundbar, if not better. My only wish is that it had the Apple TV technology built in vs. the GoogleTV junk, but that’s easily fixed by connecting an AppleTV.

I was nervous to get this based on other reviews talking about focus issues in the top corners. Right when started it up I saw exactly what they were talking about. you couldn't focus the corners no matter how you adjusted the settings. Then after I connected to internet, and did the firmware update. It was fixed!! Sharp focus on the entire image including the corners! Also plenty bright! so happy with my purchase!

I was in two minds on whether to get a LG (HU915QE) vs Formovie Theatre. Brian and David from Projector screen reviewed the room dimensions and lighting and suggested to go Formovie route. I was a little hesitant, since the LG has higher rated lumens. I finally pulled the plug and got the Formovie based on UST shootout results 2023 and I'm not disappointed. This completely changes out family movie nights experience. The image size, vibrance and contrast are excellent even on a grey wall. Dolby Vision is a real game changer for latest movies. Totally Loving it

I am a person that has very high standards when it comes to the quality of what I am watching and listening to. I was wanting to find a UST that would satisfy at least the video portion. Well after looking at dozens of reviews and content I finally decided on the Formovie Theatre. I ordered it bundled with the Spectra Vantage 100” ALR Screen. I found the screen assembly to be very straight forward and got it mounted in a couple of hours. I then went through the set up of the Formovie Theatre. It took a little fine tuning but all I did was get it to fill the screen properly I left all other settings as factory settings. I then found some HDR and Dolby Vision content. The moment I saw it I was completely blown away!!!!! I was expecting it to be good, but this UST left me in awe of both the picture UHD and quality!!!! The colors are bright, vivid and just amazing!!!! This is hands down the best UST I have ever seen. Formovie Theatre, seeing is believing!!!!!

Really love the picture on this projector. I have tested a variety of different movies and all look incredible! Operating system can be a bit laggy at times, but overall you can’t beat the quality you get for the price. I also was pretty shocked after getting this projector on how closely the image can look to a TV. Great black levels as well!

I love love this projector. Quality, silent, portable.
It does have dynamic, beautiful picture! I have it connected to a PS5 & with 4k movies.....it's outstanding!
The audio I haven't used as I have it connected to a 11.1.4 Soundbar and has never had connectivity issues.
My issue, which I have got used to, is the top portion of the viewing (attached pictures). At 1st I thought my wall was messed up. I moved homes and it is still the same. I didn't want to return it, since it was in the middle of FIFA and Football season & I have extended warranty (and again. I got accustomed to the look).
Now that I moved homes, it still has the same....not straight look. I've tried keystone corrections and adjusting the legs on the projector. But nothing works.

I would recommend this projector to anyone! Just hope I'm the only one, or few, with this problem

This is the first UST projector I've owned and did a ton of research before making the investment. Previously I've had a couple long-throw Optomas that were great. For the new theater space, however, a UST made more sense in terms of logistics, wiring, etc. I will say, despite still getting furniture and setting up my sound system, this thing is amazing. The picture quality out of the box is incredible. It's very bright, the colors are super vivid, and the menu/setup is pretty straight forward and simple. The built-in speakers also pack a surprising wallop and I've been dragging my feet on setting everything else up because, as a stand-alone projector, it's doing everything perfectly. I have a floor rising ALR screen. Calibrating and screen-size are still being worked out due to changing furniture and consoles, but even using keystone correction for the short-term is a snap. There are obviously many other in-depth reviews that cover HDR and the various other specs you want from a 4k UST projector, but I can simply say it's fantastic, beats the heck out of my previous long-throw projectors in terms of picture quality, sharpness and brightness, and is incredibly simple to set up, tweak and use for great movie watching. And ordering from ProjectorScreen was easy and painless and it arrived earlier than expected!

I've been using a basic screen I bought off amazon for over eight years. Nothing special, just a basic white screen and has served me well over the years. I couple of years ago I upgraded to the Vava 4K projector. Picture seemed fine and I never thought upgrading the screen could improve the picture quality.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago when I purchased the Formovie Fresnel screen. After watching a few youtube videos showing how screens designed for UST projectors and having light rejection properties I was sold on giving the Formovie a shot. It was priced affordably and had high marks from other owners. My wife and I took a couple hours to put the screen together and hang it. And one thing we really didn't like was the instructions. Put simply they sucked. There was multiple times were were unsure as the instructions were very unclear. But once it was put together and setup I was blown away how good it looked. In a dark room with a lamp on the screen could be mistaken for an actual TV screen. It's hard to show in pictures, but it really was a night and day difference. Daylight performance is also really good. We use light blocking curtains, but still have ambient light in the room. The screen does a very good job in daily light, but still isn't ideal for direct sunlight. But to be fair even tvs don't work well in the same scenario.

So honestly I should have got a better screen years ago. But if you want to use your UST Projector in a room that sometimes has ambient light or want to have a lamp on sometimes this screen is definitely the answer.

I got the Formovie Fresnel ALR Ultra Short Throw screen for my husband as a surprise. I did a lot of research since I know nothing about projector screens and this one always manage to be one of the top rated within my budget. I never thought that a projector screen could make such a difference, but what a difference it made. It’s amazing how well it keeps the ambient light and any light for that matter off the image. Now we can truly enjoy the 4K projector that he purchased for the media room. Would recommend 100%

I wanted to provide a review of my recently purchased Formovie UST Projector and Formovie ALR 100" Screen. I rated these products a combined 4 out of 5 stars based on the following.

Projector: I rated this a 4 out of 5. The projector is nice, I truly appreciated the OS GUI being in Andriod. Moving around within that environment was excellent. The overall sound quality being a Bowers and Wilkins footprint was excellent. The keystone setup was simple versus what I reviewed on YouTube as being a challenge. The focus is a little "iffy", it took time to really understand what it was doing. It looked unchanged for a long while. Based on the reviews, the daytime picture quality is very acceptable, it could be a little brighter. I understand low lumens equals buying a higher gain ALR screen. But again, all reviews stated that fact as well about its daytime brightness. Nighttime picture quality, colors, and blacks are a 10 out of 5. Yes, it is that good for sure especially for the price point. If you go into the advanced settings, you can manipulate flesh tones, temps, colors, and yes white brightness gain, which I am still playing with to master. One thing I noticed when watching a movie like Top Gun: Maverick in 4K. The aerial fast-moment of the planes in certain scenes was choppy, to say the least; it just couldn't keep up.

But all and all, I will say that movie night has changed forever!!!

Formovie Screen: I rated this a 4 out of 5. The screen overall is a 5 out of 5!!! Hands down a great ALR screen for less than a $1K price point. But only one major problem as everyone else spoke about on YouTube. The instructions were hit-and-miss, at one point, I thought I was missing a fiber rod so I had to reach out to ProjectScreen.com and inquire. (it was in the screen roll already attached). Directions were a little challenging to understand and the illustrations were not the best. Some stated it takes 3+ hours to assemble, it took me 2.5 hours. Based on the instructions, I dropped my rating from a 5 to a 4.

This projector from Formovie lived up to its reviews. The images are outstanding. The setup was simple. There is a youtube video on this projector set up that makes things easy. This is the best TV I've owned and will keep it for years to come. The formovie 100 inch screen is fantastic and easy to put together. Mounting was a bit of a challenge but all is well.

I am using the Formovie Theater 4K UST triple laser projector on the 100“ Formovie Fresnel ALR screen with the latest Apple Tv 4K and am thoroughly impressed by the quality, its sharp and crisp picture.

The projector can handle 80-150“ UST screen sizes and supports 4K and Dolby Vision content.

While the included Bowers & Wilkins speakers are solid for a projector, I am using a pair of the Gen 2 Apple HomePods, paired with the Apple TV box (e.g., music and Airplay works better).

Cons:

Getting the right tension and adjustment for the ALR Fresnel screen is quite a challenge and the suspension system is not great.

Initially bought the Formovie UST, and was projecting it on my Yellow painted wall in our media room. Two issues, the colors were off and the wall had a slight bow between the 18 inch on center studs. Got the Formovie ALR 100, and wow.... the colors jump off the screen and now I can leave my curtains open....... highly recommend getting this screen assembly was easy and I was able to hang it on the wall by myself.
