Hisense PX4 Pro Update Adds Dynamic Iris and Stronger Anti-RBE
The PX4 Pro running Q0917 firmware in our review setup.
Hisense is targeting October for a major PX4 Pro firmware update. The big additions are Dynamic Iris and stronger, optional rainbow-effect reduction. The company says an update is also coming to the C3 series, though the settings below apply to the PX4 Pro.
Dynamic Iris is the feature I most want to test. Our PX4 Pro review showed that closing the fixed iris improved black level and native contrast at the cost of brightness. The new Dynamic mode adjusts the aperture according to the image’s average picture level. It can respond as the scene changes.
Hisense says this improves overall contrast. The test will be whether it delivers deeper blacks while preserving highlights and keeping its adjustments unobtrusive. We'll update our PX4 Pro review with those results.
Dynamic Iris defaults to off. Enabling it disables Scenario Enhancement, Brightness Enhancer, and Laser Luminance Level adjustment.
The new RBE Reduction option offers a stronger setting for viewers who notice rainbow artifacts. Its labeling needs explanation: Off retains baseline anti-RBE. On selects the stronger mode. Owners can try both and choose.
The stronger setting defaults to off and works in Filmmaker and Theater Night. It conflicts with IRIS, Brightness Enhancer, Laser Luminance Level, Light Sensor settings, and Energy Saving mode. That means stronger anti-RBE and Dynamic Iris cannot run together.
The update also brings:
- Dynamic Grayscale, a new setting for shadow detail, off by default.
- Improved dark-scene contrast with Scenario Enhancement enabled.
- Reduced redness in dark scenes.
- Reduced brightness flashing.
- A restart prompt for screen-preset changes. Hisense specifies an AC power restart by disconnecting and reconnecting the power cord to activate the selection.
These are Hisense’s announced changes, with testing still to come. Now we want to see what those controls deliver on screen.
