Disclaimer: this is a review from a projector newbie so take it as you will. But to all the other normies out there looking to upgrade their 55" LED Hisense that you got from Costco 4 years ago, let me be clear: this projector rules. Firstly - and I know you projector-heads will cringe at this - we're just blasting this thing at a wood-paneled wall (painted white of course, we're not insane). The wall is huge, but has all kinds of seams and paint bumps. We wanted to give this "bare-minimum" setup a chance since we're renters with mid-century modern design flares that a perma-mounted ALR screen would kinda clash with (projector-heads you don't have to keep reading!). When the projector arrived (in less than a week from ordering mind you, coming ground from NJ to CA!) I immediately set it up and turned it on to see the most beautiful License Agreement I've ever laid eyes on. BIG. BRIGHT. I shouted an expletive and then READ THE WHOLE THING. I came to the conclusion that a) we had made a good purchase and b) Epson's terms are reasonable.I called the wife in and we booted up Seinfeld. Oh my god. GEORGE COSTANZA WAS NEARLY 5 FEET TALL. It was seriously so sick, we were giddy. Yeah there was alignment to take care of during commercial breaks but it wasn't too difficult. I used a laser level to provide a good reference point and shuttled the edges based off that...didn't see that tip online anywhere ya nerds!I then threw on HDMI 3 which is dedicated for gaming and loaded Super Mario Bros 3. Unbelievable. I felt like Fred Savage's brother in The Wizard. Just massive Mario, so much fun. Split-screen co-op has now become dedicated-screen co-op. On a constructive note, one thing I wish the project had was controls on the safety shut-off feature. Currently the laser shuts off if you get too close, but it's not sensitive enough in my opinion. Wish I could bump up sensitivity to buy down risk for unknowing guests.I don't know what else to say other than we're thrilled with this upgrade and would highly recommend it IF your space allows for it. We might get a screen at some point, and I have full confidence it will make the picture even better, but my anecdote is to highlight just how freakin bright and clear this thing is. You're unlikely to be disappointed unless you're unfun to be around. I'm very happy we went with projectorscreen.com for the purchase because they were helpful and responsive all along the way! Admittedly I was a little concerned making such a big purchase with a company I hadn't heard of, but also like...have you been in a Best Buy recently? Yikes. I feel like I'm supporting a good business made of real people, and I know I probably seem like an insider shill but it's the truth.Happy projecting!
This is my first projector after doing months of research for what will fit best in my home. The picture looks great. I have yet to setup my screen but even the picture projected on a flat white wall is pretty amazing. I will say that the setup is super finicky (which i’ll have to do again once I have my screen up) but aside from that it was an overall easy setup. The other gripe I have is the lack of Netflix. I’m going to just use an Apple TV for convenience with the rest of my home, but Google should really have Netflix as a default app/be able to download Netflix to the projector apps. It’s a bit odd that it’s still not something that’s available. Other than that, I’m very happy with my purchase!
