FLAX MEMBRANEPurity and precision of soundAs the key component of a loudspeaker, the membrane is at the heart of our acoustic engineers' research. After more than five years of research and development, in 2013 Focal unveiled an exclusive membrane made from flax. Patented, this Flax cone is a sandwich made of very high quality French flax Fiber placed between two thin sheets of glass Fiber. It satisfies all the criteria of a high-fidelity membrane: lightness to offer good dynamics, rigidity to hold the bass and damping to deliver a neutral, natural, uncolored sound. It is an emblematic Focal innovation in many hi-fi products. |
TNF TWEETERTreble finesseMade in France in our workshops, the TNF aluminum/magnesium inverted dome tweeter delivers smooth, clear treble. The surround that connects the dome to its support uses Poron, a shape-memory material. This surround is directly derived from Focal's famous Beryllium tweeter, and reduces distortion by a factor of three between 2000 Hz and 3000 Hz, the most sensitive zone for the ear. In addition, a waveguide has been developed to perfect spatialization and further improve the inverted dome's very low directionality. In the horizontal plane, the frequency response is within +/- 0.5 dB. This performance guarantees an incredibly stable soundstage. |

100 ICW6 2-way coaxial speaker
The big sister of the 100 ICW5, the 100 ICW6 features a 16.5 cm driver. The speaker can be flush-mounted in walls and ceilings, and offers perfect sound diffusion for stereo use (bedroom, kitchen...) or home cinema configuration (living room, dedicated installation). It combines acoustic technologies, discreet design and functionality for listening pleasure.
BALANCED SOUND DIFFUSIONThe loudspeaker features a compact, directional tweeter and a Polyglass diaphragm driver for defined, spatial highs and mids. A crossover reduces the sound's "shower effect". In addition, the treble level can be equalized according to the acoustics of your room, via a choice of three available positions. |  |

POLYGLASS MEMBRANEWell-defined midsThe diaphragm, the key component of a loudspeaker, is at the heart of our acoustic engineers' research. Polyglass technology, exclusive to Focal, consists of applying fine glass microbeads to a cellulose pulp cone. This process reconciles the excellent damping of paper with the rigidity of glass. The stiffness index is almost 10 times that of polypropylene. Adjusting the mass-rigidity-damping ratio results in a remarkably linear frequency response curve, right from the membrane design stage. This innovation also significantly increases definition in the midrange register. |
INVERTED DOME TWEETEROptimum space dispersionThe inverted dome tweeter has been a Focal signature since 1981, offering the property of being a true micro-speaker. The curvature of the dome is much less pronounced than that of positive domes. This results in better space dispersion and very low directionality, unlike ribbon tweeters. The inverted dome tweeter therefore generates unrivalled dynamics, enabling sound engineers to precisely control the dosage of compression. The precision of the image (height, width and depth) is remarkable, making it easy to position each instrument. What's more, a waveguide has been developed to perfect spatialization and further enhance the inverted dome's very low directionality.
