I read a lot about this projector being less than true “4k” but I was very impressed with the image quality. Great colors, sharpness and contrast. Once I tried a 4k movie I was very pleased and happy. It was great. I would highly recommend this projector. It is a bit hard to set up the picture square with the screen but once set it’s amazing.

Wow, what a really great short throw projector. We live in a townhome and our room gets a decent amount of light. The Epson LS800 is bright enough to enjoy a fantastic picture even without being in a blacked out room.

This is our first projector and so far we love it. Great picture quality, easy to setup, and configure.

Ezra was awesome to work with and helped guide me through the purchase options to get exactly what we wanted.

Looking forward to football season next year, but movies, tv, and video games have all been very enjoyable for my family with the projector.

My wife was on board for the projector so she could enjoy a 120” screen full of Bridgerton :-)

Highly recommended!

Epson LS800 Hits The Mark
review-star review-star review-star review-star review-star
Very impressed with the Epson LS800 paired with the Spectra Vantage 100 for our media room selection. The room can be quite bright during the day but the ALR screen and 4000 lumens live up to their reputation, image looks amazing all times of day. We are sports junkies and this sets a new bar when comes time to watching a game. Next best thing to being in the stands. Very happy with the LS800 and would for sure recommend to those contemplating the similar setup.

This is my first tv experience larger than 65 inches. I conducted a massive amount of research, leveraging resources like the Laser TV Showdown, Chris Majestic, The Hook Up and others. I appreciate the thoroughness of all their reviews. I was torn between the Formovie Theater, Hisense PX-2 Pro and Epson LS800 - all with their own different advantages. At the end of the day, my needs focused on a non-dedicated theater room with ambient light, so when the Epson LS800 was on sale at I decided to go for it, primarily for the high lumen count. You can see my before and after setup below. I am currently using a small stand that I had, but will be upgrading to a better stand that suits the needs of my projector, PS5 and soundbar. I am not using a screen yet, but love the image quality even without it...just displayed on a tan wall.

The setup was extremely easy right out of the box.

I only encountered two issues:
- Reducing blurriness at the top of screen (I struggled to figure this out in the remote settings before finding the physical adjustment lever on the side of the projector, behind the port panel)
- Finding a Netflix solution (I had planned on using a Roku stick, but that didn't seem feasible due to how the stick would not allow me to close the port panel. I ended up using the PS5 for Netflix and was surprised that the Epson remote automatically synched with the PS5 without any effort.)

My setup: 105" image, projector is on a 14" stand, 4.5" from wall, image is 6.5" above the projector. I also love that in the settings you can digitally shrink the size of the image if your space requires a smaller projection.

I am really happy with the Epson LS800 so far and very appreciative of the great insight from the community of experts at

Never Looking Back

I originally wanted to purchase a Hisense short throw projector and after placing my order I received a phone call from a gentleman named David Solomon letting me know that it wasn’t available anymore. I was then offered two possible replacements. One was a Formovie short throw projector and the Epson LS800. David was very very helpful with the differences between the two projectors and had all the patience in the world with all my questions both on our phone call and through emails. After hearing what I would mostly be using the projector for, with David’s help, I decided to go with the Epson LS800. The Projector was delivered super quick and setup was a breeze. The most difficult part of everything (if you want to call it difficult) was putting together the 100” Formovie Ambient Light screen that I purchased with the projector. The picture on this projector is unbelievable and I will never look to purchase a normal big screen TV again. I would recommend to anyone to use for your projector purchase. David made me feel like a customer that he truly cared about helping and should be commended for his customer service….5 STARS all the way around!!!

Epson LS800B....WOW!

When my 6 year old Epson 4010 long throw projector developed a large cluster of dead pixels I decided to replace it with a UST projector. Being new to UST’s, I researched the Formovie Theater, the Hisence PX-2 Pro, and the Epson LS800. I occasionally watch movies in HDR but I mostly use my projector as a TV replacement. My only complaint with my previous projectors was that they weren’t bright enough to watch during the day in my game room. Because of this I ultimately chose the Epson LS800 due to its brightness levels. And I am so glad I did!

Some of my observations:
Installation- This was by far the easiest set up I’ve ever experienced with a projector. After placing the unit on my end table approximately 7” from the wall, I used the phone app to square up the image to my 120” screen perfectly in seconds. So simple and quick. No more ladders, mounting brackets, or hassles I was used to when installing a regular long throw projector. And no more replacement bulbs after 1 year or less!

Sound- I have everything hooked up to my AVS however the included Yamaha sound bar does sound great. If I ever have to temporarily move the projector the internal speaker is more than adequate.

Adjustments – There are only a limited number of basic image quality adjustments available on this projector. If you’re a cinephile who changes different aspects of the image constantly depending on what you are watching, this projector is probably not for you. However, I found the factory settings more than acceptable and only tweaked the contrast and color slightly on my unit on day one and have not changed any settings since then.

Brightness – This projector is so much brighter than any projector I have previously owned. I have fluorescent lighting in my basement game room and can watch TV with no problem with my lights on. As of today I am projecting onto my 1.1 gain long throw screen that I’ve used for 17 years. And even though i can see the minor perfections in my screen, overall the picture looks great to me. I am eventually going to invest in an ALR/CLR screen when I can afford it, however even on this screen I am extremely impressed with the image brightness and quality.

Overall I am extremely pleased with my purchase from During the decision process I spoke with the projectorscreen team several times and they were always extremely patient and helpful answering my many questions. Shipping was fast. I ordered my projector the Wednesday before the Super Bowl. It showed up 3 days later and I was able to impress my neighbors who came by to watch the game. If you are a sports enthusiast like me you will love this projector. I couldn’t be happier with how bright and clear the image quality is on the Epson LS800 for live sporting events. If you are on the fence about purchasing this unit my advise would be to buy it!

Review from a projector newbie
review-star review-star review-star review-star review-star

Disclaimer: this is a review from a projector newbie so take it as you will. But to all the other normies out there looking to upgrade their 55" LED Hisense that you got from Costco 4 years ago, let me be clear: this projector rules.

Firstly - and I know you projector-heads will cringe at this - we're just blasting this thing at a wood-paneled wall (painted white of course, we're not insane). The wall is huge, but has all kinds of seams and paint bumps. We wanted to give this "bare-minimum" setup a chance since we're renters with mid-century modern design flares that a perma-mounted ALR screen would kinda clash with (projector-heads you don't have to keep reading!). When the projector arrived (in less than a week from ordering mind you, coming ground from NJ to CA!) I immediately set it up and turned it on to see the most beautiful License Agreement I've ever laid eyes on. BIG. BRIGHT. I shouted an expletive and then READ THE WHOLE THING. I came to the conclusion that a) we had made a good purchase and b) Epson's terms are reasonable.

I called the wife in and we booted up Seinfeld. Oh my god. GEORGE COSTANZA WAS NEARLY 5 FEET TALL. It was seriously so sick, we were giddy. Yeah there was alignment to take care of during commercial breaks but it wasn't too difficult. I used a laser level to provide a good reference point and shuttled the edges based off that...didn't see that tip online anywhere ya nerds!

I then threw on HDMI 3 which is dedicated for gaming and loaded Super Mario Bros 3. Unbelievable. I felt like Fred Savage's brother in The Wizard. Just massive Mario, so much fun. Split-screen co-op has now become dedicated-screen co-op.

On a constructive note, one thing I wish the project had was controls on the safety shut-off feature. Currently the laser shuts off if you get too close, but it's not sensitive enough in my opinion. Wish I could bump up sensitivity to buy down risk for unknowing guests.

I don't know what else to say other than we're thrilled with this upgrade and would highly recommend it IF your space allows for it. We might get a screen at some point, and I have full confidence it will make the picture even better, but my anecdote is to highlight just how freakin bright and clear this thing is. You're unlikely to be disappointed unless you're unfun to be around.

I'm very happy we went with for the purchase because they were helpful and responsive all along the way! Admittedly I was a little concerned making such a big purchase with a company I hadn't heard of, but also like...have you been in a Best Buy recently? Yikes. I feel like I'm supporting a good business made of real people, and I know I probably seem like an insider shill but it's the truth.

Happy projecting!

At first I was a little skeptical bc I had just purchased an $80 led projector from Amazon and I was blown away with that. This LS800 is on par with some of the best LG OLED it puts my 55 inch to bed. After some tedious research I finally pullled the trigger on this $2799 purchase over the Black Friday holiday. I am extremely happy. I play a lot of video games and wanted the best of the best when it comes to input lag and this is the best on the market right now. No more of that annoying feeling when someone walks by as this is a UST. I’m currently using a 120 white screen which does not do it justice I’m going to get a motorized ALR ASAP I can see every imperfection with the so called wrinkle free screen $80 from Amazon. If your looking for that wow factor look no further this is it. Setup was alittle challenging but I find it best if you slight let the image go over the borders then walk it back with the keystone and your good to go.

This is my first projector after doing months of research for what will fit best in my home. The picture looks great. I have yet to setup my screen but even the picture projected on a flat white wall is pretty amazing. I will say that the setup is super finicky (which i’ll have to do again once I have my screen up) but aside from that it was an overall easy setup. The other gripe I have is the lack of Netflix. I’m going to just use an Apple TV for convenience with the rest of my home, but Google should really have Netflix as a default app/be able to download Netflix to the projector apps. It’s a bit odd that it’s still not something that’s available. Other than that, I’m very happy with my purchase!

Absolutely A-M-A-Z-I-N-G Projector!!!

The Epson LS800 is truly an A-M-A-Z-I-N-G Projector!!! I swear you can't tell that it's a projected image when you use it with a ultra short throw projector screen that ALR screen (I've got the VividStorm UST ALR 120 inch motorized screen). It looks just like a big LCD TV screen - that must be why they call it a Laser TV rather than just a projector! The picture is shockingly beautiful and vibrant even when there is LOTS of sunlight in the room. I didn't realize any residential projector could do that. It's got to be magic, I don't know how this is possible. Is it an expensive setup? Yes. Do you get what you pay for and even more? 100% YES!!!!!!!!! And I've had no issues playing FPS games on my PS5 or Xbox Series X either. I did all the research and this device has the lowest lag time by a large margin of any UST projector on the market. THIS PROJECTOR IS AMAZING!
Excellent Projector

Great pictures but user experience user interface isn't great

The picture quality is bar none the best -bright, sharp, focused with lots of contrast that got even better when I paired it with an ambient light rejecting screen.

I did find a a few annoying things with the user interface.

Connection options for the sound and accessories are also lacking. No bluetooth?? No optical audio? I was though able to get the HDMI ARC to work with a Yamaha soundbar.

Despite some annoying things the picture quality is so darn impressive. I'll continue to see if this user interface will be difficult to use or if I'll get used to it.
Great living room projector

I have had this projector for a few months now and have really been enjoying the brightness in my living room.  This projector excels in rooms where there is ambient light, even without an ALR/CLR screen.  I am currently using it projecting onto a 135” grey screen and I have found the image more than acceptable.

The biggest selling points for me were:

1) Best in Class 0.16 throw ratio, allowing the projector to be right up against the wall - even with a very large image

2) Best in Class lag time of 17 msecs - very important for gaming responsiveness

3) Price - ranges from $3500-$3000 if you can find it on sale

4) Name brand - Epson supports its customers (see below)

My biggest issue with the projector is that it has an issue where it randomly turns itself on from stand- by. This is due to a conflict between the Wi-Fi controller and Android and Epson is working on a fix.  When I contacted Epson about the issue, they provided me a free Android dongle as a work around which had the added benefit of Netflix support. I just turned off the Wi-Fi and no more issues with random starts.

Are there projectors with better contrast and darker blacks? Sure, but in a room with a window, you can’t take advantage of that except at night. All in all, I highly recommend both the projector and Epson. It is especially good for rooms where the projection surface is a wall.  See the pictures below for an idea of the image quality.

The first 2 pictures below show the image quality onto a 135” grey screen with a 1.0 gain. The last 3 images show the image quality projected onto a white wall.

The last 3 show the ambient light level, and the projected image at the Epson’s lowest and highest output - projected onto a very wavy wall painted matte white.

  • Verified Purchase was a great resource when I was researching ust projectors and related screens. I had several places to make my ultimate solution, but decided to make my purchase through as well, even though I had no prior experience with them. All the great reviews that I read about the support folks received both before and after the sale had a lot to do with my decision. The price was also very competitive. I found the whole experience to be easy and am very happy with my purchase.
