Been using a 65 inch Hisense for about a year now. Saw this Laser TV and could not get it out of my head. Did my due diligence and finally bought one. I was not surprised by the 100 inch picture. I do know that additional adjustments are required, but I am not Knowledgeable enough to make these as of yet, so, we wait until I find somewhere to understand all the adjustments I need to make to make the picture even better,

I have used a projector as my primary and only screen for many years. For a long time it was the only way to get a big, immersive image without spending a fortune. But this year I almost defected. It was time to upgrade to 4k, and TV's have gotten so much bigger, cheaper, and higher quality that I thought the scales may have finally tipped in favor of a 75- or 85-inch TV. That's a little smaller than my 100-inch screen, but also brighter and better for viewing without total darkness. Daytime image quality has always been the Achilles' heel of my living room projector setup.

Then I saw some reviews for the Hisense L9G and I thought maybe, just maybe, it could solve that problem without giving up the 100-inch screen. Given the extreme brightness (with full color saturation!), the UST ALR screen, and the 100-day no-risk guarantee, I figured I'd give it a shot.

And boy howdy, am I glad I did! My old long-throw projector (with a relatively new lamp) was also rated for 3,000 lumens, but the L9G looks MUCH brighter. Literally night and day difference. On the L9G I never even have to turn the laser all the way up - even with the lights on and my shades open, the image looks sharp and clear at 80% brightness. The attached photo shows the image with my living room lights on (at night, but still plenty of light in the room). My wife said it looks like a TV and she's right, except that there's no TV that's an inch thick and 100 inches across!

The colors are incredible, the Android TV interface is slick and responsive, and it works flawlessly for 4k gaming on the PS5. The only complaint I have seen anyone make about the L9G is the black level, and that is somewhat valid - even with the lights off, the blacks on this projector aren't as deep as they are on an OLED panel, or even some similarly priced long-throw projectors. But the biggest reasonably priced OLEDs are 77" (which have only 60% the area of a 100" screen, and less than half that of a 120"), and the lenticular ALR screen probably looks more contrasty than any long-throw projector in all but a fully darkened room.

Overall, I am thrilled with this projector. The brightness and UST+ALR screen easily solve the daytime viewing problem that I have had with other projectors, and with the lights out the image is nothing short of breathtaking. Now that I know how bright it looks, my only regret is that I didn't go for the 120" version.
    Outstanding screen and projector!!!

I bought a Hisense 120L9 UST Projector (Laser TV) from Projectorscreen.com. The LaserTV comes with a high quality screen as a bundle. The screen is optimized for the LaserTV. Before we installed the screen, we projected on our wall. The quality of the picture and color is awesome. Then we got the screen professionally installed although it is not that difficult to install. Hisense provides step by step installation. The picture quality improved drastically when we projected onto our screen. We have installed a Atmos surround sound system. We have watched old shows like MONK as well as movies like Doctor strange in multiverse. It provides a movie theater experience. I don't think I will go to a theater again. Hisense lasertv is reasonably priced.

The TV with screen is cheaper than just a LaserTV from other brands like LG, Samsung, and Sony. Here are some tips for frustration free experience:

    1. The remote needs pairing with the TV and a little adjustment

    2. Read the instructions thoroughly. Hisense recommends the TV to be setup about 16.75 inches above floor and approx. 13 inches from the screen. There should be at least 78 3/4 inches clearance to the ceiling above the base of the TV. That means you need to have at least a 8 feet ceiling.

    3. The screen height can be adjusted easily

    4. The viewing area can be adjusted with the remote Overall it is a great TV with a reasonable price.

This was the first time I've had a projector in my house, so since I was curious about it, I thought I'd include a picture of what it looks like in the box they ship it in.

Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with the product. It has some shortfalls in very specific scenarios (being next to a window that is hit with morning sun).

Unfortunately, I was never contacted by Hisense for the free installation promotion, so I used it without a screen for a while, but this gives a chance for someone curious to see how it looks in the second image.

The blacks are much blacker with the screen, but dark scenes can can suffer in the mornings with the sun is directly outside of the window (even with the blinds closed) as you'll see in the third image. This was a particularly bad dark scene, most lighter parts don't look like this.

Once it's closer to noon, the image improves quite a bit which you can see in the last picture.

Recently got my Hisense L9G about a week ago and I don’t think I would go back to a regular television. Great brightness contrast and picture clarity. The Dolby audio is great for the size of the unit. Set up was pretty easy but need to make sure to follow instructions carefully. Overall great product and most of all GREAT customer service when I called projectorscreen.com for support. I will be coming back for all my theater electronic needs.

The purchase process was good. The description on the website never explains that the cinema screen comes standard which is would be helpful. Luckily there are multiple options on how to contact a customer service agent but still that was and extra and unnecessary step. The customer service was good. The package arrived timely. The instructions are a little confusing and obviously written in a different language and translated to English but they work. I followed mine to the “T” but it had me unroll my screen right side up which was incorrect. Either the instructions are wrong or my screen was rolled incorrectly at the factory. That was a challenge as to get it flipped correctly. The only other difficulty was getting the image lined up on the screen. The instructions said to place it 8.5 inches from the wall. Mine ended up being over 12. But once you get it semi close the auto correction is like BAM! And it’s perfect. The image quality is amazing. Even in a daylight lit room it is totally acceptable. We have been using it as our primary tv for two weeks now with no problems. Tv tuner, PS4, built in apps, and Roku are all running flawlessly.
    It will not disappoint.

This review is of the 120inch L9G. The box is very large, but packaged well. The instructions are clear, and the screen was easy to assemble. I put it together on my own, and had it mounted on the wall in under 2 hours. To setup the projector, I originally used the automatic correction. This did a good job of lining up the image to the screen, but I noticed a significant amount of light bleed at the left and right edges. I opted to do the manual mode instead, and this took several hours to get perfect, but did eliminate the light bleeding issue. I spoke with Hisense about this, and they were taking a look as to why this is happening.

The brightness, image sharpness, and motion was on par with the 86 inch Sony X900F that I was transitioning from. The android interface was quick and worked well. However, I would love to see Netflix added in a future update. There are plenty of calibration settings to work with to get the image dialed in to your preference. The image of the projector is extremely good in a dark room environment. It does wash out the brighter the room gets, but that is to be expected with a projector.

I am giving the L9G an 9 out of 10. The image quality and motion was better then expected. The only reason it's not a 9.5 or 10 is the light bleed issue with the automatic correction, and the absence of Netflix.

I would absolutely recommend this projector to someone looking for a great home theater experience. My wife, who usually does not comment about anything A/V oriented even said that it was really great to watch content on a large screen at home.

Thanks to the projector screen staff for answering all my questions quickly and honestly. Overall a great experience.

Wow!! This combo of projector and screen is truly spectacular and I would highly recommend it to everyone who has the space for a 120” screen. I have had a home theater since 2000 starting with a Sanyo front projector with a Stewart 100” drop down screen. I replaced the projector with a Panasonic HD in 2013. I relocated in the fall 2020 and a front projector installation would have been difficult due to the construction of the house. The Hisense was the perfect solution for me. The image is sharp bright with incredible blacks and the screen works well with ambient light. The assembly is straight forward with excellent instructions. I am extremely happy.

I love my new projector! I have had the projector a little over a week now and have not stop using it. Put it in my living room and works great throughout the day (just have to use the correct setting) and works even better at night. Definitely gives you the movie theater feel. I did end up hiring someone to put the projector screen together and mount it on the wall. Took him a few hours but was worth the wait (The installer also commented on everything was very high-quality).I was choosing between this and a Samsung projector and definitely think I made the right choice.

Wife was very skeptical about me getting this projector. Is it too big? Will it be ok to watch during the day? Will it be as good as our LG OLED? She was blown away after setting this bad boy up. She thought it was as good as our OLED! It took her a couple of weeks to get used to the size and she said that it was a great purchase. Everyone that comes over is impress by the size, color, brightness and clarity especially during the day. As for my son (3 years old), he love watching his trucks, cars, trains and construction video on it. I've asked if he wants to watch his videos on the big tv or small tv (LG OLED), he always picks the big one. I mainly watch sports and TV shows on this and watching sports is amazing. Players don't look tiny anymore! Setup was fairly easy, just took time adjust the projector to cover most of the screen. This is my first time with UST and I am impress with the technology.

This is a good daylight projector. I was looking exclusively for a projector that would minimization the effect of daylight since we have no blinds in our living room. I had been searching for an Epson LS500 at first and wanted to pair that with a Stewart Screen or a Screen Innovations screen to get the ALR capabilities. The combos that I was originally looking at was in the $10,000 range since the screens themselves are about $6,000 plus tax and the projector was about $3,500 both of which needed tax. After doing some research, I decided on getting the Hisense L9G because it checked all the boxes I wanted, i.e. it has a 4K picture and it has a 85% light reducing capability all for around half the price of $5,000. After unboxing and set up I can say that the picture quality is amazing and it works really well in daylight. It compared to the models they have at the showrooms of other models that I saw when deciding whether I wanted to buy an ultra short throw projector. My only gripes about our purchase is that the projector itself is the shiny black material instead of matte black and it reflects overhead light onto the screen. Also, the frame wasn’t a 100% fit as I couldn’t screw in a cot or bracket completely on one side but no big deal. The functionality of the remote and android interface is really smooth and good too. Our whole family controls it using Alexa and an Echo so we love the function of it. Overall, I would say that we really like our purchase and would do it again. Please note that the first two photos that are displayed are without the frame, which makes it look so much better. Thank you.

Remarkable value and phenomenal picture quality only begin to tell the story here!!! We ordered the new Hisense 120L9G as a replacement for our recently damaged vizio 70-inch display. We have always wanted to have an immersive family home theater but the projector cost and lack of light control deterred us from going down this path. After seeing the reviews on Hisense laser TV’s and researching my options on projectorscreen.com we decided to pull the trigger. WOW! Super pleased with the L9G unit, build quality, features, service/quick shipping of projectorscreen, as well as the best pricing out there! I would gladly do business with Projectorscreen again in the future!!! As for the L9G - if you are on the fence… start climbing! You won’t be disappointed with the value and performance of this projector/screen combination. Your only problem might be kicking friends and family out of your home.

    120" Cinema Screen L9G Review

    Cons:

We've had the 120" L9G serving as our home's sole TV for several months now. Here are my thoughts:
Note: Our prior projector was a BenQ W1070 (a budget 1080p long throw) from 2013, projecting onto a painted wall. I don't have experience with expensive projectors/screens to compare this to.
    - Summary: this is an excellent projector + screen combo in this price bracket (got my unit during the $5K promotional period) that produces an A- cinema image but is capable of shining an acceptable image with daylight. The 4/5 rating is because 1) 5/5 would require a truly exceptional piece of kit for my reviewing purposes, and 2) the chromatic aberration produces fuzzy text for the discerning eye.
    - The short throw + ALR screen + projector brightness combo of this kit does remarkably well during daylight viewing. This was the primary reason we chose this projector. Our living room is flooded with natural daylight, so combating this (without window shades) was a top priority. I'm happy to report that casual viewing during the day is adequate. Is it as good as an OLED TV? Of course not (though it also doesn't come with an obscene amount of glare). Do I want to watch especially dark films at noon? No, not really. But do bright shows (like kid-oriented Disney options) perform well enough to satisfy the toddlers? Yes. Then, once night comes, the image is brilliant.
    - The Hisense L9G has far greater color saturation vs. our prior projector. When the Netflix logo appears upon the launch of the app, I'm still surprised by just how RED it is. All the while, actual images projected from the shows do not appear over saturated - it is only when the scene calls for a particularly rich splash of color do you notice that extra capability.
    - I'd say the single largest complaint I have with this projector is chromatic aberration. I know this is a challenging consequence of wide angle lens physics, but it is noteworthy nonetheless. It becomes most apparent when looking at the various menus for the apps (aka: lots of text on screen) and was the only thing that made me think, "Hmm. Unlimited resolution doesn't really matter if the lens isn't capable of keeping the fidelity." As a photography hobbyist, this isn't new news for me, but some may turn the projector on for the first time (usually standing 2 feet from the screen to do so) and immediately feel bummed that the text appears fuzzy with a green/magenta haze. In conclusion, I'd say text was rendered as "sharply" on our old 1080p projector as the L9G; however, 4K content itself certainly yields plenty of crispness (especially when seated 10+ft away from the screen).
    - As I'm sure you've read elsewhere, the black levels aren't pitch black. This is far from a deal breaker for us giving our priority for daylight viewing (thus needing a lot of brightness).
    - The onboard speakers are surprisingly good, but don't hold a candle to a home theater speaker setup. Perhaps if you added a sub to compliment, you could get away with it; but really, you're spending $5K+ on a TV - you probably have dedicated audio ready to go anyway.
    - The input lag is unnoticeable to my amateur gaming perception. I am enjoying time with an Xbox Series X quite a bit with this projector.
    - It runs pretty quietly. From time to time, we hear the fan speed up, but overall, it's basically silent compared to a lamp-based projector mounted to the ceiling right above your head.
    - Last but not least: if you invite friends over that haven't seen a legit 120" TV before, you'll probably get some "holy crap"s when you boot up a good looking movie. :-)

Note: I tried snap a quick photo of daylight viewing, but the captured image looks horrible compared to the actual thing. In real life, it has far more contrast, saturation, accurate white balance, etc. Apologies.

Those are my primary takeaways for now. Will try to provide any updates in the future if needed.

I've never had a projector and was not sure if I should spend 5k+ on it. Thanks God I decided to take it! It came with a great screen that allows the projector to show stunning colors and brightness. The quality of the image is just eye opening, I'd never thought such picture could be produced by a home projector! The colors are vivid and bright, the image is crisp clear and focused. I am very happy with the purchase! My wife and I already started gathering movies we will be watching on it! If you can afford this projector, don't think twice, it's incredible.
PS. the sound quality is also very good, so if you are not very picky, you'll be completely satisfied with the sound.

Ultimately, the projector has some major quarks that I would argue do not justify the value proposition. If I were to repeat a purchase, I would likely go with Samsung and would 100% get a UST projector with a proper focus mode for resizing the screen. The projector supports something called geometric correction for minor adjustments on a fixed 120" screen size. What's not advertised is that any use of the geometric correction will cause a halo like effect on the screen. There's light bleed through on all edges. This effect is non-existent on ANY of my other high end projectors and seems to be a unique experience for me with this. It's completely undesirable and is extremely unattractive (see my screenshot as a reference). If the projector is not aligned PERFECTLY, this is the result.. which is terrible. Beyond the harsh restrictions of the geometric correction, there's also major problems regarding eARC support. However the projector separates and processes eARC (even when audio is set to passthrough), the chipsets clearly cannot handle it. It does cause major lip sync delays. I personally solved this issue by purchasing an HDFury device and separating eARC audio before it gets to the projector. A terrible solution for such a pricy product. I do also wish they sold these projectors without the built in speaker as I don't honestly see anyone purchasing a device like this and using the speaker, but clearly they think it adds a value proposition (one I do not see). Regarding colors, it's ok. Brightness is where the sweet spot is at for living room usage and the bundled cinema screen is perfect for bright rooms with lots of light bleed. Gaming has low latency and is very nice. Other than that, the geometric correction and eARC limitations/issues are the heavy hitters that do make me recommend alternatives over this.

I purchased the Hisense 120L9G 4K UST bundle for my dedicated home theatre, what an experience! It didn’t just meet my expectations but it surpassed them! Total WOW Factor! Although it improves the HD viewing experience, the 4K viewing experience is really exciting on this 120” screen! By the way if you have the space, go with the 120” versus the 100”. Go BIG and no matter what they say size does matter! LOL.

My wife and I installed the projector screen in about 2 hours. The projector setup was easy since you simply just follow the menus. Since this is my first time owning a UST projector, I have nothing to compare it to other than my LED 4K TVs. My 4K TVs are NICE! But they can’t compete with my UST projector.

Prior to my purchase, Ezra Hiller was great at answering all my questions and he was very knowledgeable about the product. In addition, to reading hands-on reviews, Ezra helped solidify my decision for my purchase.

The only downside is that Netflix is not part of the native apps collection, perhaps a licensing technicality. Hopefully a future update will change that. But, I’m extremely happy and look forward to enjoying my Unique Visual Experience for years to come!!

After receiving this TV and having it installed I was blown away by the picture straight out of the box. With it set on vivid the colors popped off the screen. I reset it to the standard mode to get a more natural and film like quality to the picture. And is the picture bright. Even with my overhead lights turned on it still delivered an excellent picture. I would highly recommend this TV to anyone looking for a short throw laser tv. And also recommend ProjectorScreen.com for their excellent and easy service.

<p>This laser projector and screen is a great buy for the price. The screen is really easy to put together. Took me about 30 min to do by myself and only needed another person to help when laying out the screen and to lift up onto the wall. Otherwise can be done easily with one person. Setting up the laser projector is a little more difficult but the key is to have it sitting at the right height from the screen. I am waiting on my media console to arrive so I will need to re-align again once it arrives. Overall great picture and great product would definitely buy again and projectorscreen.com has been great with customer service.</p>

Please add this to my previous review.

1-I found the download times are slower if connected straight to router using an RJ 45 jack over using Wi-Fi so most definitely connect using Wi-Fi over hardwiring.

2- this is a big one, now that I’ve had time to play around with it, turn down your luminosity to zero then put on auto contrast to low, now put the unit on filmmaker mode and boom 💥 this unit shines like a top of the line projector! Unreal blacks, nothing gets blown out and what a pleasure it is watching this projector in action. You can play with the other processing if you like, I just put the motion on standard and that’s it done.

It’s my first projector and I was little skeptical initially but after setting it up in my loft and watching it - my reaction was mind blowing. It’s not just me but the whole family liked it.

It took sometime to get it delivered - I expected the delay due to holidays. The packaging was huge and I don’t think it can be damaged easily. It took 2 people and 3 hours per day(for 2 days) to set it up.

I would 💯 recommend it and worth the price.

PS: I don’t want to give a technical review and leave it to experts 😉

The laser tv itself set up was pretty easy except the automatic geometric setting was a bit confusing. We have not set up the screen yet, the image on wall is still considered good to us, thus confident that it would be stunning on the cinema screen. The sound system is actually better than we expected as we were thinking to pair a sound bar before buying.
    The cons we have are:
1, it takes very long time to load the apps, sometimes too long that we just gave up. Wonder if other users have had the same issue....At first, we thought maybe it has to do with our internet speed (we have the 400mbps plan), but we speed tested it and other devices and the speed turned out fine. Plus, NO Netflix!!!
2, it turned on on its own a few times....maybe we didn't operate it correctly....haven't quite figure it out yet.
3, when we use IE browser, it sometimes shows "out of memory", but it doesn't bother us nor affecting the quality of the images.
Above 3 minor reasons are why we gave a 4 star, however we still would recommend this product.

I got the 100” and realized it wasn’t big enough for the room and then reordered another 120” and it fit very nicely now. It was a pain to do this but I know I would regret it every time I used it. Right out of the box calibration is pretty dead on, I don’t turn on auto contrast or add extra contrast because it kills the blacks by over saturation. The auto geometric correction will only work if you have a well lit room doing it in the dark or not giving it enough definition between the room and wall will make it useless and it will not work. Installation is pretty straightforward and not difficult at all as long as you do your measurements and leveling correctly. It definitely was harder then the 100 inch installation and geometric set up was also easier. It’s a little buggy at times but nothing to worry about. Interface is outstanding and easy to navigate. I have it integrated with SVS ultra speakers and a Marantz AV processor with EMotiva amps, Gallo Atmos cubes, and sealed Atlantic technology subwoofer that really does a nice job pressurizing the room.

When I started looking for a projector setup to upgrade from my 65" OLED TV, I was overwhelmed with the amount of information I needed to learn to make the right choice. I wanted to go for 150" screen size and UST to avoid long cables and complex ceiling mounting. I quickly realized that proper 150" ALR screens are extremely expensive, and I'd have to go for something smaller. 100" would be too small for this room, so 120" turned be an acceptable compromise. It's 4x times the 65" TV and is a huge improvement in the viewing experience.

After doing some research and watching a number of reviews, I almost bought a VAVA projector, but then I realized their new version is about to be released, and I already missed the great crowdfunding price. At this point, I was OK to spend a bit more on a complete setup including the screen so that I don't have to look for the third-party options. This is how I found Hisense L9G with 120" Cinema screen. It checked most of the boxes for me: UST, 120", not too bad input lag for occasional gaming, 3-laser system without color wheel and with great color reproduction, good brightness, HDMI 2.1, screen included. I was not worried about it being a fixed focus projector since it should be perfectly tuned for the bundled screen size and fixed focus usually provides better sharpness.

Dealing with ProjectorScreen was a great experience. From placing the order, to getting the shipping updates, the package delivered and my support question answered within a day. The projector and the screen arrived in a huge box which is very well protected. Inside this box, there are 2 separate boxes for the projector itself and the screen.

I liked the design of the screen and how straightforward it was to assemble.

The main con for me was the outdated and inaccurate manual. The first issue is that unrolling the screen is different, don't follow the instructions, just unroll it normally and the back side would be facing you. The other issue was with page 11 saying the distance from the stand to the top of the template is 73.94", while on the very next page it says to measure 73" precisely for the same distance. The PDF on the ProjectorScreen site says it's 74". Be aware of this typo on page 12 and use 73.94" for the 120" screen option. The manual for 100" screen doesn't have this typo and specifies the same values on pages 11 and 12. It should not be a big issue even if you mount it using 73" value, the screen mounts have +-1.5" of adjustment with the rods, but it's better to have more usable adjustment range just in case.

Assembling the screen took a lot of time. I made a couple of mistakes that I want to mention. First, proper frame alignment is the key. If the gap on one of the sides is even slightly wider than the other, and the metal grommet is positioned on the edge of the inner frame, you won't be able to secure the outer frame. Before proceeding further with the springs, double check it's aligned as precisely as possible. There is also a spare spring on each of the sides which can rattle from your subwoofer later. Make sure to secure it with sticky tape or some mounting putty. After triple checking all the measurements, I was able to hang the screen at the perfect position that didn't require any further height or level adjustments. Projector feet were enough to position the image at the right spot, and it took about 20 minutes.

They recommend ~20" stand height for the projector and the stand I got was a perfect fit. With some minor modifications to the stand, I was able to fit the center channel speaker (Klipsch RP-450C) inside it. Denon AVR-S760H receiver sits right under the center speaker with less than half of an inch gap. I really like how it all turned out.

I'm used to Nvidia Shield TV Pro, and it works great with the OLED TV, so I decided to use the same source for the projector. It has better performance than the built-in Android TV hardware. It has almost perfect AI upscale to 4K. Netflix works out of the box. Chromecast is built-in. You can stream games from your PC or GeForce Now service. It still gets OTA Android updates.

As for the remote, you can use just a single remote from the Shield to control everything, thanks to properly working CEC. Projector turns on really quickly together with the Shield and the AVR. It remembers the last HDMI input used. In my configuration, Shield is plugged into AVR and AVR is plugged into the projector via ARC port. Volume control works via AVR and everything turns off with a single button. However, I'm a huge fan of Logitech Harmony universal remote, so that is what I'm using for this setup. I found AVR volume control works quicker directly than via CEC and I can also assign other remote buttons to control Denon AVR audio presets. I didn't find a way to control the projector itself using Harmony yet, but it's not really needed after you perform the initial setup.

Projector noise level is acceptable, you don't hear it at all while watching something. I noticed the power LED on the front of the projector sometimes appears ON, even when turned OFF in the settings. Probably a bug, looking forward to the firmware updates.

Overall, I'm very happy with Hisense L9G performance and the image quality. The blacks are not as good as on OLED, but that would be expected. The colors, the screen size, the brightness of the image are just stunning. ALR screen does its job and in the light controlled environment, I feel like in a real cinema. I almost ditched the TV, it's so small compared to the huge projector screen.

Hisense just announced a new projector with variable focus, but less brightness and no included screen. I'm happy I went for L9G model as it's still one of the best UST options in 2021 and is future-proof. Even if I decide to upgrade in several years, I'll probably reuse the 120" ALR Cinema screen from Hisense.

I've been using JVC 790r (with 120" screen) as my for couple of years but have been intrigued by development of UST projectors but never found one that I liked enough to give up on the JVC. Thankfully, my recent move to a new house gave me the opportunity to rethink my media/theater room and decided to get a UST projector. After spending hours on YouTube, AVSforum and discussing with Brian (ProjectionHead), I ended up ordering the L9G with 120" screen.

    Assembly/Installation:

Projector and screen come in one box, which is HUGE and heavy so make sure you have plenty of help to move and unbox it. Once unboxed, I assembled the screen using the provided guide and some helpful YouTube videos. Some of the steps in the instructions do not correspond to the parts provided so you will just have to think it through. Overall, it is not difficult, just time consuming.

Hanging of the screen was a lot easier thank to the provided template. You just have to make sure that all the measurements are double checked because the projector has fixed focus so in case the distance and height is not correct, it will be difficult to align it later.

Once the projector was setup on the table, it took a while to align the picture to the screen as it take a lot of micro adjustments to get it just right. L9G has built-in auto geometric correction to make this process simple but I think there is a bug in the software as I couldn't get it to work. The IP that it provides was not available despite trying many times.

    Impression:

Projector itself looks nice and feels right at home on top of the table. Also, being all black helps it fit in with rest of the theater pieces. Fist thing that I noticed was how quickly the projector turns on. That was one of my greatest issue with previous projector as it took almost a minute to turn on.

Setup is straight forward, thank to AndroidTv OS onboard. One thing that I immediately noticed was the lack of Netflix app. It is not a big deal as I can use Chromecast or Shield for it but it would be better if I don't have to use extra hardware just for one app.

One thing that totally surprised me were the speakers. Speakers sounds very impressive and get VERY loud. The only thing they lack is bass, which can be easily fixed by adding an external subwoofer. With that said, I do plan on connecting my 7.1.2 system (using Yamaha AVR) later but for now I don't feel the urgent need for it due to built-in speakers.

    Picture Quality:

Once everything was setup, I played 4K demos from YouTube, watched movie on Netflix and played couple of games on Xbox Series X. Overall, I was really impressed by colors, sharpness and response of the projector. The only downside I noticed was the contrast level. It is okay but not as good as either my previous JVC or the OLED Tvs. Turning on Active contrast to "Low" does help (it is off by default) but not perfect.

    Gaming:

Xbox does recognize as 120 hz capable display but due to technology restriction this projector does not play games as 120 hz or support VRR.

One of the reasons for choosing this projector was the low input lag that is needed for gaming. So far I have not experience input lag that would have adverse affect on the gameplay but there is definitely some there specially if I compare it with my OLED tv. With that said, it is only noticeable during heated online gameplay. If you are mostly playing single player game, it is non issue.

So to sum it up, this is probably the best UST on the market as it checks of most of the requirements to replace a TV but it is not perfect. Hopefully, Hisense can fix the contrast issue with an OTA update (with better Tone mapping) which will make it even better.

    Pros:

    - Instant on/off

    - Bright, vivid and sharp picture

    - 3 HDMI ports including eARC and 120 Hz input

    - Response OS

    - Backlit remote (big plus!!)

    - Excellent speakers.

    Cons

    - Contrast could be better

    - Missing Netflix app

    - Setup could be difficult and time consuming due to fixed focus and long throw

    - Automatic geometric setting is buggy and does not work

I bought the 120” L9g with the cinema ALR screen. I am in the process of finishing my basement, but I wanted to get it at the $1,000 off deal in November. I couldn’t wait to get this setup so as soon as I had the walls finished/painted I needed to get this on the wall.

I want to first say that the buying experience from ProjectorScreen.com was super easy. I had a few questions on which model I was going to get and then when it came to buy, a few clicks and done. Product was shipped promptly, and everything was in perfect condition. Great experience and would buy again from ProjectorScreen.com in the future.

The setup was straight forward. I had read reviews that it would take a couple of hours and wasn’t sure if I believed it fully. Yes, it takes that long haha. It was easy to put together but just took time and it does require 2 people. After a couple hours of quality time with my wife, we had the screen on the wall and a movie was on. The image setup was also very straight forward.

The picture quality is very impressive. I’ve tried a variety of content on it so far with different lighting situations. This unit is in a big rec room that has zone lighting and dimmers. I’ve watched movies streaming with a 4k Apple TV, PS5 games and streamed live TV on the Apple TV. The only time I feel I need to change my lighting from full brightness is when I’m watching something with dark scenes (like nighttime scenes). If I do that, I’ll have a section of the lights dimmed/off. I know everyone has a different room and setup so take this as my experience. Obviously the picture will look even better the darker it gets. Input lag is not noticeable for PS5 gaming.

I would fully recommend if you were considering an UST projector/TV to get this and get it from ProjectorScreen.com.

When I started down the road of getting a laser TV, I originally just wanted to make the picture bigger. I wasn't looking to make every movie look new again, even for films and TV shows I'd seen dozens of times before. But when I saw the 4K picture of the Hisense L9G, I knew I could never go back to so-called HD, DVD, or even Blue-Ray resolution ever again. I had been immediately and permanently spoiled.

Let me start over. I am your classic cinema fan. Foreign, artistic, indie but I also enjoy the hell out of Marvel movies. In fact, Avengers: Infinity Wars was the very first thing I cued up on my L9G using the built-in Disney+ app. After watching Thanos taunt the sons of Odin and picking my jaw up off the floor, I loaded other films. The detailed 4K format allowed me to see things in Full Metal Jacket I had not seen before! I saw things in The Wrath of Khan I hadn't seen since I watched it in the theater it as a youngster in 1982. Same for The Blues Brothers.

Originally, I just wanted a 1080p picture, no big deal: super easy to generate, not a big processing overhead required. I also didn't want a dedicated physical screen. I knew a projector was the way to go to achieve the screen size I wanted and I even shopped for that special reflective wall paint.

However, when I saw that the L9G's tri-chroma laser did away with the need for that noisy color wheel (which I had previous experience with on a Samsung projection TV in the early oughts), I knew the time was right to upgrade.

In the interest of full disclosure, here are the downsides: if you opt for the cinema screen over the daylight screen, as I did, then you must assemble that screen yourself. You're going to need another pair of hands.

Also, I had previously spoiled myself with full 5.1 surround sound, including a subwoofer. And while I must admit, the 40w sound built into the L9G was damned impressive, I opted instead to take advantage of the eARC hdmi port on the L9G by pairing it with Platin's Monaco WISA 5.1 speakers. Now, my living room is a proper screening room to share with family and friends.

The other thing to be aware of is the fabled "soap opera effect." As a cinema snob, this weighed heavily on my mind. Rest assured. The L9G's "Filmmaker Mode" transforms the viewing area into your local movie theater. But here's the thing you should know: the HDR capability of the L9G will cause you to re-think your position about the so-called "soap opera effect." You doubt me? I doubted it too.

The film that showed me this difference is Spike Lee's Do The Right Thing. I had seen this film about 20 times before. Half of it is daylight, the other half is nighttime. The daylight scenes, when watched in an HDR mode (and there are several modes to choose from), you feel as though you are standing on Stuyvesant Ave in the summer of 1989. To say the effect was amazing is to do a disservice to the word 'amazing.' And again, if you dislike the HDR modes, keep it on "Filmmaker Mode" to preserve that classic 24 frames per second feel!

The only thing I'm thinking twice about is this: maybe I should have gone with the 120 inch screen instead of the 100 inch screen!

The main takeaway: if you're on the fence, let me give you a nudge. Your eyes will thank you for showing you 4K goodness!

I have been very impressed with the Hisense L9G paired with the 100" cinema screen. This is our first laser TV and its absolutely jaw dropping. I have a very bright room with large windows, and I was very impressed with how bright this system is in my setup. It performs best in a darker room but as long as sunlight isn't beaming right on the screen, daytime viewing isn't a problem. It’s not going to be a vivid as an OLED TV but I think you will be blown away with how bright it can get in a light controller room.

When the sun goes down, and the room is dark holy cow does this laser TV perform. It can get VERY bright in a room with no lights. If you are considering one of these laser TVs, be sure to do your homework.

You need to place this on the right stand at the right height. The screen needs to be setup 15 inches above the top of the TV stand, so you need to take that into account. Also, it’s massive... make sure you have the space.

Finally, take your time setting it up correctly. The payoff is worth it if you spend the extra time getting it right the first time. Android TV on this device is very responsive. Something to note, Netflix is not yet supported on the L9G at least not yet. If you have a 3rd party device that does support Netflix, you can tie it into one of the available HDMI ports on the L9G. This is my only complaint with the device.

The colors are beautiful, my wife and I are absolutely blown away with how nice this laser TV is. I think Hisense has something special here. If you set it up correctly, I think you will appreciate this system as much as we are right now.

First impressions, to the point, it's stunning! From the vivid colors and crisp image to the sheer size of the screen we've been thoroughly impressed so far. Everything we've thrown at it from IMAX enhanced movies, NBA games, to 4K Xbox games have looked and performed flawlessly. More in depth thoughts on our use case, setup and experience below but the short and sweet is we're beyond happy with the purchase. Please excuse the organization in the pictures, we're still waiting on the final cabinet stand to arrive but wanted to make sure we had ample time to take advantage of the 100 day return promo. We purchased the Hisense 100L9G to replace a 60" Samsung LED TV that's experienced 2 failing video boards in the short span of about 3 years.

After living with red vertical lines for months I knew I wanted to replace it with not only a bigger screen but to also move away from a panel TV if possible. We took a long look at both Epson and Samsung's UST offerings before eventually settling on the Hisense as it seemed to be the best balance across the color/brightness, throw distance, input lag and general system features that were most important to our primary use cases of a mix of movie watching, sports, and semi-regular casual gaming.

We paired it with the soft cinema screen option as it would be installed in our basement theater room that is fully light controlled.

    Screen Setup:

The screen assembly was mostly straight forward, though there were a few inconsistencies from the included instructions. Most were small such as one of the initial right angle brackets had an additional hole on one leg not depicted in the instructions and it was unclear which orientation it should be installed, it didn't end up mattering but still tripped us up a bit.

The worst being the orientation of the screen in the protective roll. Following the depiction in the instructions on how to unroll the screen resulted in the screen actually rolling out upside down which made for an extra challenge of flipping it over without introducing any folds or damage. Once assembled, mounting the brackets and hanging the screen were straight forward thanks to the included template.

    Projector Setup:

Basic setup of the projector itself is well... basic. Set it on your stand and plug it in. From there following the on screen prompts to get it connected to your network if you're using wifi is all straight forward. Once that's done we launched into perfecting the projector/screen alignment. This was admittedly fairly tedious to get just right. Making slight adjustments to the various feet and turning the projector ever so slightly to make sure the picture is parallel on the screen. We wanted to minimize any sort of geometric correction needed from the software so we spent extra time on this.

We eventually got there, but I'm definitely not looking forward to doing it again once our final cabinet arrives. On paper I was a bit unsure of the throw distance in terms of how far it would push the project out into the room, in practice though it turned out to not be a big deal at all for us and is just a few inches further than our previous cabinet.

    Experience:

Once things were successfully installed, we started off by getting the Android TV configured with our regularly used apps. This is where one of the system's current drawbacks creeps out. If you're used to Android TV via the newer Chromecast, there's some discrepancies in available apps. Most notably, as others have pointed out there's no native Netflix app currently, though there seems to be some crumbs in the settings section that suggest it may be coming soon and Hisense's other UST offering does feature Netflix so it may just be a matter of time. In the meantime we're using a separate Chromecast for Netflix and the F1TV apps that are missing from the native system.

From there we gave things their first real test with an IMAX enhanced movie from Disney+. Everything was stunning. Even in the energy saving picture mode the brightness and colors looked great. The image was crisp and clear all the way to the corners and the playback was smooth. We tried various levels of ambient lighting throughout the viewing and the ALR screen performed well, with only a minor bit of wash out when the full room lights were on 100%.Next up was to try out some sports, we switched the picture mode over to sports and threw on an NBA game. Same experience, things looked great. The playback in the fast action was crisp and clear and the overall image quality was superb.

The last test was some gaming. I had always heard horror stories of the input lag of projectors making gaming a frustrating endeavor, especially anything requiring a fast reaction response.

While the Hisense didn't have the input lag performance of the Epson offering it works great!

I have never used a projector before i guess was looking for the right product to come. Well this is it. I am amazed, thrilled by the screen size and i haven't installed the ALR screen yet just watching on a wall. Brightness is at its peak, picture quality is great. Black levels are not up to the point during dark scenes but i'll take it. It's good to have Android tv. Great Product.
Big experience in a small box.

Great purchase! The projector turned out to be bery great with crisp color and contrast. Switching from a 65 inch to 120inch was a big jump and i cant go back. The software works great, wish netflix was there but none the less there are workarounds to that issue. All apps performed well and auto scene detection worked great as well. The speakers on this work amazing as well with great clarity and sound. Soundbar is recommended but you wouldn't really mind using this without one as well because of the good sound.

My first home theater was yrs ago so when I decided I wanted to install a new system this one hit all the new features out there. Super easy to install and setup, my jaw dropped when I turned it on, the tech is awesome and a great fit with the screen. It’s unreal and highly recommend! A high end DVD player with give a better picture and I’m using it with Nvidia shield pro 4K with upscaling which makes a big improvement when streaming. Thanks for the help from projector screens they are there to help with any questions and support!

This thing is an absolute BEAST! it's about 4x larger than my current 65" tv and blows it out of the water from an image quality perspective. I knew I wasn't going to get OLED level blacks, but for a projector the L9 is extremely good. Perhaps it has something to do with the included screen as that is a dark grey, but even before I set up the screen and was projecting on the wall, it still look good. Overall I am really happy with this purchase and the help that I got from the ProjectorScreen.com team in helping me chose this setup.

Initially I felt fooled thinking this would be the perfect pairing for my xbox series x which can do 4K at 120fps. A major reason I bought this was due to it having hdmi 2.1...despite the fact that it cannot do 4k at 120fps...I still am extremely happy with the purchase. From picture quality, size, and it coming with an ALR screen, I love it. Love the family movie nights and watching my sports.

So this is my first Projector and it took a while for me to decide what I would purchase. Now that the L9G was released, I decided to go w it since it was new. I am happy with the results and picture do it no justice. I don't even know if I can watch a regular TV again. Additionally, the professionalism and customer service of Brian Gluck is the gold standard.

Before making my mind up, I asked some many questions about projectors, that I was annoying myself, so I know he had to be fed up. It never showed, he answered all of my questions in a way that was easy to understand and in a timely manner. It made the buying process smooth and made me feel at ease about my choice. I could not ask for anything more. If you are hesitant, get over it and just do it. You will be very happy with the product. The picture is great and the sound is great. Hard to believe it could project that much sound from such a device.

I made the trip out to demo the Hisense L9G in person in early September. Ezra and the fine folks at ProjectorScreen.com were very accommodating and extremely attentive in helping to answer all of my questions, as well as explain things in detail so that I could make an informed decision. I was very impressed with the 100" unit that they had on display, but I chose to go with the 120" as I thought it fit our family room better. The projector and screen were delivered in early October and I've had the opportunity to live with the system for a month or so and here are my initial observations.

Full Disclosure: I'm not a technical guru when it comes to home entertainment but I do know what I like, and have enough knowledge and ability to be dangerous. Everything was relatively easy to set up. My son and I completed the full install in about 2 1/2 hours with the assembly of the screen and the final adjustment of the projector taking the majority of the time. We placed the unit in our family room which has very high ceilings and two large transom windows that receive full sun during the day. We chose to replace an aging flat panel tv with this unit and I have to say the L9G is pretty impressive.

The quality of color is the first thing that I noticed. Content that was part of our regular routine: tv shows, sports, movies, jumped off the massive screen and looked fresh. I was concerned about how the unit would perform in a room with high ambient light and I was surprised that the L9G does as well as it does in my environment, although there have been days when we have had to lower the shades a bit if it was a super bright morning. Regarding content, we're using an Nvidia Shield Pro and streaming YouTube TV for live TV and Netflix/HBO Max for movies. We chose this instead of using the built in Android platform, which works great, but does not have Netflix available.

I will say that 4K content is absolutely stunning.....and I mean stunning. NFL, MLB & College Football games are incredible. That being said, just as this unit shines when rendering 4K content, you will notice everything bad 10X if the source material is lacking. The old adage "garbage in garbage out" holds true for sure. Also, black levels on this unit, as with all other UST's, leave a lot to be desired. I personally don't struggle with this, but if you're a film lover and must have things as the director intended, then a UST may not be what you're looking for. Settings out of the box are very good but could certainly use calibration as reds were running hotter than I would like. If I'm nitpicking the throw ratio leaves a little be desired. I've had to pull out my 20" wide credenza 10" from the wall which looks a little awkward. Bottom line:

If your looking for a replacement of your existing flat panel tv the L9G is pretty hard to beat. It's packed with a lot of great features not to mention where else are you going to get a 120" experience at this price point? Hisense is offering a 100 Day No Regrets Guarantee which I believe runs until the end of 12/21 so once you register the unit after your purchase you can return it within the timeframe if you don't love it. I'll upload another, shorter, review next month after I've had the chance to live with the L9G a bit longer. given that I registered the unit as part of Hisense's "No Regrets Guarantee". If I don't like it after 100 days then I can return it no strings attached.

I'm a hard-core TV enthusiast and when I was looking to upgrade my home theater set-up (Marantz pre-processor, Emotiva amp and Furman power conditioner) my first thought was an 85" OLED. After talking to the folks at ProjectorScreens.com, I was convinced to give UST Laser TV's a shot. I must have watched almost 50+ YouTube product and comparison videos to decide the brand and screen size I was going to purchase. I chose Hisense because of the 3 laser design and 2.1 HDMI input. I wanted to somewhat future proof my purchase. I have to say, pairing Hisense with 5.2 audio is beyond CRAZY!! Bigger is better and the price-point was within my budget and they bundle it with an ALR screen taking the worry out of deciding what screen and size. Best purchase of 2021 for me. It also doesn't hurt having a trial offer with a money back guarantee. However, I'm definitely keeping my Hisense.

I am blown away by how far projector technology has come! I was initially hesitant because I love OLEDs but a 120” screen on the Hisense L9G really outweighs alternatives when you’re looking for full theater immersion. And being able to watch on a projector when there’s ambient light (my biggest hesitation about projectors) is a game changer. When I started researching projectors, Brian from the beginning provided me direct answers to every question I asked and gave me no run arounds. He was brutally honest about the products and went out of his way to find me the best deals. Ezra then ensured that it fit my exact requirements and would work in my space. Honestly, one of the best experiences with buying a product and the product itself has blown me away.

After reading some reviews and talking to Brian about the L9G we decided to give the Hisense a shot. So worth it. It’s super bright and the 4K image looks sharp.

Ive seen lots of comments about building the screen, but as a DIYer the screen wasn’t any harder than a piece of IKEA furniture. It took a bit of fine movement to get everything aligned perfectly, but once it was complete we spent over an hour watching 4K content on YouTube just smiling.

We talked to the kids about going to the movies now that everything is opened back up, but they said they’d rather camp out and watch a movie at our house instead. I can’t blame them, with a 10 foot screen we always have the best seats in the house now! Literally everyone who’s come over and seen it has had projector envy. You won’t regret making the jump!

Got my L9G set up in time to catch the MLB playoffs and World Series. The sheer size makes it almost as good as being at the game. Won’t be watching sports on anything else from here on out.

Brian and team at ProjectorScreen.com are top notch. Got this unit on their recommendation and am more than happy with my purchase.

Compared to the single laser UST I’ve had in my media room for a year, the triple-laser is a whole new experience. Right out of the box the brightness and color of the L9G is such a dramatic step up that it’s hard to believe that I was ever content with my other projector - I guess I didn’t know what I was missing, until I saw what was possible from the L9G.

I got the bundled 100” cinema screen and I’m pretty impressed. With this screen the picture is super bright and looks great even with all the lights on. The build quality is nice too with all metal parts. The wall mount for the screen is two separate pieces that have level adjustments after you screw them into the wall. This was great to get the screen perfectly level after I hooked it to the wall mounts. The frame of the screen is like a picture frame, with an angled profile that catches the DLP light bleed that I see on my other screen with its really slim bezels. No light bleed once the L9 is in position.

I haven’t seen it talked about anywhere else but the responsiveness of the Android TV apps on the L9 is crazy fast. My other Android based UST is abysmally slow. On the L9 there’s no lag at all switching between video inputs, opening menus, or navigating between different streaming apps. The remote is also backlit, which is nice with all the lights out.

Overall this UST has incredible brightness, super accurate color performance, a really well-designed screen, and a snappy Android TV implementation. I’m recommending it to all my friends.

I was able to pop into the projectorscreen.com showroom and see this projector on it's first day available and take one home with me! This projector is simply amazing; it is bright and the colors look fantastic. It took me about 2 hours to setup and install since I didn't want to wait for the free installation that they provide but it really wasn't that difficult. What a great shopping experience and such cool people to deal with. They even gave me a sweet custom bag of popcorn and some popcorn boxes for my first movie night.
