Denon’s newest X-Series AVRs are their best ever! These are Denon’s first receivers ever to feature HDMI 2.1 for 8k performance. Among the many other features of this new series is its inclusion of Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization, VPR (variable fresh rate) support, Bluetooth transmission to headphones, and many more.

But of course, us projector nerds are most excited about the introduction of 8K and HDMI 2.1. While 8K content is extremely limited at this time, these AVRs are a good way to futureproof yourself from having to upgrade in 2 years.

Denon’s X-Series AVRs support eARC (enhanced Audio Return Channel). This allows for uncompressed and object-based audio from your projector. The receiver is able to detect the best surround format to use. Of course, us projector nerds are most excited about the introduction of 8K and HDMI 2.1. While 8K content is extremely limited at this time, these AVRs are a good way to futureproof yourself from having to upgrade in 2 years. This upgraded technology will not only serve your UHD projector, but also your latest and greatest gaming console, streaming device and TV.

The four new 8K models Denon has unveiled are: The AVR-X2700, the AVR-X3700H, the AVR-X4700H, and finally the flagship AVR-X6700H.

The Denon X2700H offers 7 amplifier channels and a generous 150W of output power. However, unlike its siblings it does not offer processing channels with preamp outputs. With 6 HDMI inputs and 2 HDMI outputs, even the most basic model has a lot to offer.

Next up is the Denon X3700H, which sports 9 amplifier channels, 11.2 processing channels with preamp outputs, 180W of output power and 7 HDMI inputs and 3 HDMI outputs. For many, the AVR-X3700H will be the best value.

One step above, the Denon X4700H is similar to that of the AVR-X3700H except that it is more powerful – a whopping 200W this time. Furthermore, the AVR-X4700H flaunts 8 HDMI inputs and 3 HDMI outputs. This is a fantastic choice for a system that requires a lot of power.

Finally, the flagship Denon X6700H has all the bells and whistles. This time it has 11 amplifier channels, and 13.2 processing channels with preamp outputs! It even goes further with regards to power sporting 205W. It is the only model offered here to include DTS:X Pro technology, for greater spatial resolution and realism. Simply put, this is the best AVR Denon has ever made!

As we wrap things up, it is worth mentioning that Denon celebrates their 110 years in the industry. These new state-of-the-art AVRs are a welcome addition to their continuing legacy.

Denon's sister company, Marantz has also recently recently announced their new 8k receivers for 2020 as well: https://www.projectorscreen.com/blog/marantz-8k-receivers-announced-sr5015-sr6015-sr7015-sr8015
