Optoma was one of the first companies to release an affordable ultra short throw projector. The Optoma CinemaX P2 UST projector improves on that original model with better specs and even greater entertainment value. This is an all around strong Laser TV.

As the new kid on the block, AWOL Vision is making a tremendous splash. They came out swinging with the release of the AWOL Vision LTV-3500. This super bright triple laser UST offers a phenomenal picture with extra vibrant colors. It's quite possibly the best ultra short throw projector we've seen.

Optoma P2

The Pros

  • Higher lumen output than most USTs
  • Realistic looking colors
  • One of the best built-in soundbars
  • Supports 3D
  • Available in either black or white casing

The Cons

  • Colors are not as vibrant as other UST Projectors
  • Not great for gaming
  • Slight image softness at the top of the image
  • More prone to rainbow effect than most UST DLP projectors

AWOL Vision LTV-3500

The Pros

  • Super bright triple laser light source
  • Accurate and vivid colors right out of the box
  • Image is sharp and crisp
  • Very easy to calibrate with a plethora of controls and options
  • Supports 3D
  • Can make an image size up to 150 inches

The Cons

  • No built-in smart TV apps, but it does include an Amazon FireTV Stick
  • Contrast ratio is good but could be better
  • Solid but not the absolute best for gaming
  • Only comes in black
  • Body is on the bulkier side

So Which Is Better, The Optoma P2 Or The AWOL Vision LTV-3500 UST?

Both these UST projectors are great choices. But one of them has a significant edge in this fight.

These are two phenomenal ultra short throw projectors. Without a doubt, you'll be absolutely thrilled with either one you choose. But ultimately a decision had to be made. So between the AWOL Vision LTV-3500 and Optoma P2 the winner of this ultra short throw projector shootout is………

AWOL VISION LTV-3500

Even though this is AWOL Vision's first ultra short throw projector, the AWOL Vision LTV-3500 is debatably the best laser TV on sale. It has incredibly bright accurate colors, super sharp detailed image, great motion handling and it does all of this right out of the box. With a 3500 lumen, triple laser light source, it's going to be very difficult to beat the AWOL LTV-3500

The Optoma P2 is by all measurements an all around good projector. It provides a fantastic image, with plenty of brightness and has a powerful built in soundbar, making it an ideal replacement for a livingroom television.

If you're just looking to save money the Optoma P2 is a good choice. But if you want to get the best picture from your ultra short throw projector possible, then buying the AWOL Vision LTV-3500 is a no-brainer.
