The UHZ65 is a state-of-the-art 4K Ultra High Definition (UHD) projector for home cinema viewing capable of delivering incredibly sharp images with a high level of detail and breathtaking color. With 4 times the pixels of 1080p, an ultra high resolution of 3840x2160, 3000 lumens, and 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio, the UHZ65 has been engineered to deliver the ultimate 4K UHD home viewing experience. Its powerful laser phosphor light engine, High Dynamic Range in the form of HDR10, vertical lens shift and massive 1.6x Zoom, take image quality and use of the UHZ65 to world class, cinema-quality. The UHZ65 is powered by a revolutionary Texas Instruments 4K DLP UHD chipset with a high performance DMD utilizing XPR video processing technology with fast switching to display 8.3 million ?distinct? pixels as mandated by the Consumer Technology Association's 4K UHD 2160p specification.

The UHZ65 can project 4K UHD images of 140+ inches, allowing viewers to sit as far a way as 11 feet from the screen and still enjoy the full 4K UHD pixel experience. The average 55-75 inch 4K UHD TV simply cannot match this, as viewers typically sit further away from their TV than the optimum viewing area of 4-6 feet. High Dynamic Range (HDR) is the true star of the 4K UHD show. HDR leverages wide color gamut with REC.2020 and DCI-P3 coverage to deliver luminous whites, deep black levels, and striking, like-life, real world color that was previously only possible at the movies.

The UHZ65's PureMotion technology dramatically enhances games, movies, and sports by eliminating noise, motion blur, and erratic movement in fast motion video, producing images that are clear, consistent, and smooth. In terms of at-home installation, a generous 15% vertical lens shift and a massive 1.6x optical zoom provide a great deal of flexibility, while dual stereo speakers generate audio that is loud and crisp. The UHZ65's light source provides a remarkable 20,000 hours, eliminating the need to replace the light source throughout the life of the projector.

DLP Technology

DLP (Digital Light Processing) is a proprietary technology from Texas Instruments that offers digital projection with higher contrast, faster response time, good pixel structure and virtually no color degradation.

Amazing Color

Our projectors are capable of reproducing the Rec.709 color gamut, the international HDTV standard to guarantee accurate reproduction of cinematic color exactly as the director intended. Our projectors can also create saturated colors, great for gaming and animated movies.

Dynamic Black Technology

This feature gives more depth to your image by smoothly adjusting the lamp
output to create a stunning high contrast ratio. Bright scenes appear crisp and clear, while dark scenes remain detailed with deep blacks and exceptional light and shade detail.

Using sophisticated frame-interpolation technology, advanced motion control processing eliminates motion blurring or image judder, even in high-speed action sequences. PureMotion works in both 2D and 3D and is optimized for 1080p24.

This technology ensures all the information contained in an image is accurately reproduced on the screen to give a stunning crystal clear, pin-sharp picture. Complex algorithms detect each frame and improve image sharpness before the frame is projected.

This mode allows the projector to reproduce more detailed shades of color for vibrant, natural-looking images. Colors are more saturated and more accurate.

ISF Modes

This feature allows you to save your calibrated day and night mode
settings for the ideal viewing experience.

MHL Connectivity

Turn your projector into a smart display by connecting your smartphone or tablet with a single cable using MHL; now you can view presentations and documents, stream videos and share photos on the big screen.

Long Lamp Life

Reduce the number of lamp changes with long lamp life.

Vertical Lens Shift

Vertical lens shift simplifies installations by shifting the image up and down without image distorsion to provide a wider range of projector placement possibilities, making it easier to position the projector in a room.

High dynamic range (HDR) technology delivers brighter whites and deeper black levels. Optoma HDR accepts HDR10 signals with four selectable picture modes: Normal, Bright, Detail, Film

Color the way it is meant to be seen ? rich, colorful and cinematic pictures and games via DCI-P3 wide color gamut coverage.

HDR signals are mapped using REC.2020 tone mapping and provides coverage for REC.709, DCI-P3 and a wide coverage color gamut.

Optoma-UHZ65 Reviews
Optoma UHZ65 projector.
The picture is excellent and very clear the colors are very clean and bright. No line’s on the screen the image is very smooth. I love this projector.
On 3rd Device

I purchase this device in July of 2019. The laser failed after 3 months with less than 25 hours of use . Optima wanted to send me a refurbished unit. After much back and forth with the Optima rep they agreed to send me another new unit. This unit has now been in use for 1 year and again the laser has failed. I now have to accept a refurbished unit. I have little faith this device will last but I don't have any options as they will not offer a refund or upgrade. Overall I'm very happy with the picture quality but I'm not happy with having to return it each year. I would not recommend this device. Optima will not take my review. Apparently they only accept 5 start reviews.

OK projector
I like this product except for:

It does not not have horizontal shift

The control panel in incredibly inconvenient to open for vertical shift and lens zoom control . It would be much better if the panel opened from the from the front of the projector. I have returned this product and purchased another projector.

I would have kept this product except for the reasons above. I would rate it about 2.75.
Best Image!
We love it. We had a different projector and it required a special lens to fit our screen. This one came in out of the box and fit it perfectly. The picture is wonderfully bright and crisp. Extremely happy with it!
Jaw Dropping
The quality is stunning, especially when it flips to HDR. Of course the room needs to be totally dark but the blacks are real deep. Everyone who has seen my projector is left speechless.
Awesome Projector
Great out of the box!! Did no adjustments except screen size and focus--Looks perfect!!
Outstanding for the Money.

I previously purchased a JVC X990 from Brian of and loved it. Then I bought this Optoma UHZ65 laser projector from them.

I just ran it uncalibrated with some UHD material but still away with some a very positive imperssions.

1) Excellent value for Bulb-Free Longevity: laser light engine.

2) Bright: 3000 uncalibrated lumens, but I would expect calibration will bring those down some.

3) Outstanding Color: For HDR, the UHZ65 could not produce color as wide as what the JVC X990 can achieve with its color filter in place, but the color on the UHZ65 was superior in its lumenance; dark scenes that can at times appear muted black in shadowy areas on the JVC exploded off my screen with vibrant colors.

4) Appealing Dynamic Contrast: native contrast on most DLP projectors is typically not high; but visually, the UHZ65's contrast was quite excellent. And with the Dynamic Black feature set to level 2, it produced very convincing black levels. Dark scenes looked great. I certainly had no complaints and this is coming from someone used to the JVC X990.

5) Low Operational Noise: Operational noise was much lower than I expected at 100% laser power and even lower at 50%.

6) HDR sizzles with electrifying brightness.

7) Good Motion: Silky smooth motion with pure motion set to 1; native motion did not exhibit excessive blurring either.

8) Outstanding sharpness and clarity! The lens and processor do a pretty good job at resolving 4k/UHD source detail while the projector's tone-mapping and shadow detail capability proved excellent. Keep in mind that the literature states the UHZ65 has a native resolution that is higher than 1080p. It uses something called XPR to shift the pixels to display 8.3 million pixels. The total number of addressable pixels in this process is 2716x1528 and it's multiplied by 2 to get to 8.3 million. I"ll say the process is very effective. Mate that to the razor sharp, scalpelled image offered up by a single-chip DLP, and there you have one super sharp image in the UHZ65.

1) Does not have Native 4K chips (still bear in mind that a single-chip DLP projector doesn't have to deal with convergence errors found in three chip LCD/LCos projectors. The single chip used with a color wheel can offer up more precision than a native 4K chip projector).

2) I did see one rare occasion of posterization/color banding.

3) Using Dynamic Black at level 2 or level 3, I saw the dimming system tripped up once. I'm guessing the fast speed of the laser keeps this from happening often.

4) No motorized lens cover, zoom, or focus.

5) Very limited lens shift.

6) Some rainbow effect/white light defragmentation. This was few and far in between and even to a lesser extent when HDR mode was engaged on the projector.

Overall, the UHZ65, produced some of the most cinematic images I've ever had here. Its overall performance was so much to my liking that I enjoyed it even more than the JVC X990. It surprisingly knocked my socks off!

Thank you, Brian. You did it again!
